Title: May have converted a few wheel boys
Post by: Don Batten on August 12, 2008, 08:23:00 PM
I went up to VA this past weekend to a good friend of mine's. They had a local invatational sportsman challenge type shoot. 3d shoot, small bore(22) and skeet. It was a blast and a great group of guys. 16 shooters and I did'nt even finish last in the 3d, even though the shots were out there for my recurve.(25 to 50 yds)mostly past 30. I took my Hitchhicker target lancher and a few bows and some flu flu's . after the shoot I sat it up and invited them to try some wing shooting with trad bows. We had to pick up the arrows with flashlights and then they got a block taget out in the flood lights and shot till 1: 30 in the morning. They were talking about adding a trad shoot and wing targets next year. Most compound shooters are ok, they just need to see for themselves that trad bows can be shot accuratly. DB

Always nice to show the compound guys!

I went out last year with the compound boys from my rod and gun club and just for the sheer fun of it decided to shoot from wherever they shot. To my overwhelming surprise and theirs I not only kept up but beat most of them! Thing is, now that I've achieved a "rep" with them as a great shot I can't shoot again with them-I KNOW I could never shoot that well again at those distances (or shorter ones even)!       :biglaugh:

Yep! Electrician doing work for us at the lodge liked archery. I showed him my Whip and arrow making shop. I have a "baby" Whip (very light draw Whip). Handed it to him and had him shoot. Next day he shot my Whip. "Thats cool"  " I gotta get me one of these". He is hunting with his new Whip this year and some custom arrows I made for him. I think I hooked another for life. HEHEHE
