Mike Gemind of WV passed away on Monday Aug. 4. Most people here knew him as Shrewshooter or Beartracker. He was diagnosed with cancer about a month ago and was given 2 to 3 months to live. We've lost another one of the good men of the trad archery world. Prayers to his family.

I was saddened to hear of Mike's passing. Although I had never met him I felt as though he and I were old friends. I always enjoyed his enthusiastic threads and posts. All of us will be crossing the river soon enough, but I wish Mike hadn't had to go just yet.
John,
Yes, Mike was very enthusiastic about the short ACS longbows OL built for him to suit his shorter draw length. He loved hunting bear with them. I've been thinking about him the past week or two and almost posted a thread asking if anyone had heard from him. I wish I would have now.

Sad,really sad! I've missed his postings, a real down to earth bowhunter who shared my passion for Bear hunting! can anyone shed some light on how long he had been sick??
Sad news...I really enjoyed his posts in the past...Thanks for letting us know...
I've opened this thread several times and I really don't know what to say other than it's hard to believe he's gone. We exchanged emails over the years and gave each other some ribbin'. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind and seemed to love being in the woods. My heart goes out to his family. RIP.

Sergio,
From what I've read, Mike was diagnosed with cancer a month ago and was given 2 to 3 months to live. He made it a month. He refused treatments and wanted to go home and spend as much quality time as he could with his family, and wanted to die with them around him.
