every time I put out feed for the deer where I hunt, tons of coons come in and eat it all, I dont have a pack of coon hounds or know anyone that does, I have never seen them, but thier tracks are everywhere, what is an effective way to get rid of them?
Check your game laws for furbearers then do some night hunting with your bow. You will no doubt have to wait for the furbearers season but they will be prime then.
prime for what?, I have heard of a coon squaller call, does it work?
Most of the places I hog hunt(over feeders)is full of raccoons. The landowners want me to shoot them on sight(and I have) but I like watching them and they always let me know when a hog or deer is coming in before I hear them.
I've had good luck calling them in with a mouse squeaker and even a blade of grass between my thumbs a couple of weeks ago at my range.
The fur is Prime, the leather side is white not black.
Somebody say coons???

I wish I had a pack of redbones, tried to use my problem as an excuse to get some, but mom said NO
trap em!! You can also call en in with a coon fight tape or coon kittens in distress tape.(fight works best)
Just get ya a livetrap and bait with marshmallows
I'd say learn to live with it. Most areas have a lot of coon, and they move around a bit. If you trap/kill some, others will move in. Of course, you could also try to learn to hunt without feed. Little critters won't become pests and you'll save money.
thats a fine looking hound! some of my best memories as a kid were coon hunting over my dads blue ticks....
great looking hound you got there sir! mighty fine!
Old Sally, Sue and sister Sissy man I haven't thought about those hounds in years "early 80's".
Good looking red, Lost Arra
trap them in the winter. dispatch with a .22 to the head (or field point). skin and sell to North American Fur Auction. The thing is, fewer and smaller the holes in the hide the better!
Hmm makes me want to get my walker hounds out and do some walking .
Ian trapping or hunting them, while fun, won't get rid of the problem. More will move in and you'll be fighting a loosing battle.
it will give me a reason to get out in the woods with my bow, mabey get some fur to line a quiver
Nice red bone. I used to have a blue tic. He was too fast, would catch what ever he was after and tear it up.
