Trad Gang

I realize the summer heat is out there right now, but for anyone interested in joining us for one of our February '09 Cabin Fever Texas Pig-Gigs there are still a few slots available. You can read about all the options on our website at  www.brothersofthebow.com. (http://www.brothersofthebow.com.)  These reasonable, fun hunts are extremely popular, so if any of you are interested, now is the time. The bad news is Hunt #1 is sold out; Hunt #2 sold out; Hunt #3 sold out (I told you they were popular).But I still have seven slots available for Hunt #4. This hunt is on the same 12,500 acre property as Hunt #1 but after it's rested for two full weeks. Actually that works out well in that by the second hunt we know where the hotspots are. Additionally, this ranch is also excellent for spot and stalk bowhunting. I, myself, bowkilled five hogs in one day last year just slipping around. And that was on the last week of hunting the property. Obviously, that's not the norm but it shows it has the potential for plenty of action. Gene and I are in camp the whole week. I'll second going on this hunt, I went on this ranch last year and killed 3 and had more opportunities, I am going again ! I think this is one of the nicest ranches I have hunted on.

Barry, old, old trusted companion.  I assume you received the deposit for me and friends (?!?).  Don't know if Ollie and Clayton can really be truly called friends since both are a little odd.

I've been on a few of these hunts. Great times and great company! If I didn't have hogs in my backyard, I'd go every year.

I'll be back again this year at the Vinson Ranch . . . doing hunt #1.  Bringing my son-in-law again and an ex-student of mine for a second time.  Both of them shoot wheels but hopefully the rest of us can show them the error in their ways:^)

Looks like all the slots are filled now, pending two guys calling me back tomorrow to confirm. I just had one cancellation on Hunt #3, so there is one slot and only one left on all four hunts. Thanks guys. I should fess up to the Dallas Cheerleader stuff. I just made that part up. Actually I got one guy from Louisiana in trouble last year when his wife read that part and actually believed it. He said he really had to sweet-talk her to get to go. When are you guys gonna learn I sometimes speak with forked tongue? And Tom.. regarding the extra critters, coyotes, fox, bobcat, rabbits, armadillo, etc. all you want. No limit on hogs either and no additional trophy fees. "When there's arrows in the air there's danger". BW

Good News. Gene and I just confirmed a Hunt #5. Because these bowhunts are reasonably priced and so much fun, all four of the first listed hunts have already been sold out. We've just been granted permission to have another hunt on the excellent 80,000 acre Chaparrosa Ranch just south of Uvalde, Texas for March 2-3-4-5-6, 2009 (M-F). If you go to  www.brothersofthebow.com (http://www.brothersofthebow.com)  and read the info regarding Hunt #2, all the info will be the same, except the dates naturally. We've hunted this ranch at least four times and it's always been excellent for both javelina and hogs. In fact, the hog numbers have probably tripled in the last couple of years. If anyone is interested please email me at barrywensel@hotmail.com and I'll pencil you in according to availability. Then after you're penciled in you can print out a registration form via the webpage and mail it in with your deposits. Hope you guys can join Gene and I on this bowhunt. It's a great cure for the winter blues/cabin fever. Thanks. BW

Yeah the hog population has really exploded. Because it's been so dry down there for the last couple years, all the hogs are concentrated near the tanks and any water sources enjoying one big constant orgy. The sows are dropping big litters multiple times per year. Makes perfect sense. BW
