Title: kota bow owners
Post by: MnFn on August 05, 2008, 11:45:00 AM
I am thinking about buying a #55 one piece recurve. My draw length is 28", so I will probably end up with an arrow about 29" long. By the charts I should start with 2016. In your experience does the Kota bow match up with the charts?

I have some KK wood arrows that are spined for 60#, will try those also.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Gary

My guess is one or the other should work. With the 2016 it could depend on point weight. Your kind of in a borderline area. A .500 spined carbon might work better. Leave it long and play around with different point weights. I should have my Swift from Tim any day now. How close to Jamestown are you? I have all kinds of different types and sizes of shafts you could play with.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am in Grand Forks. I did buy the Kota. This is my second custom bow in about 20 years. The first was a longbow, and from day one I struggled to shoot it. This was quite different, as the Kota Prairie Swift fit me perfectly. It is a shooter. I think it is faster than either of my two 60# bows, with the same arrows!

I called Tim and asked his thoughts on it. He actually suggested a couple of different carbons to try. So, I will experiment. I apprecite the offer, but it would be hard for me to connect with you, at the momment.
Thanks, Gary

No problem Gary. Tim makes an excellent bow and knows his stuff. Just leave the carbon arrows long when you start tuning and cut only a 1/4 to 3/8" off at a time until you get them flying right.
