Title: My New Legends Mountain Recurve"Now with Pictures"
Post by: mike g on August 05, 2008, 12:43:00 AM
Hey Gang....
Guess what,  I thought that I would see what all the hype was all about so I got myself a Recurve....
And since Mike Rash is a friend of mine and A Bowyer "Legends Bows" I decided to get one of his Recurves....
I actualy traded one of my Longbows for it, another friend of mine has a local Archery shop and carries Legends Bows, so I made a trade with him....
Mike called me today to tell me my bow was finished and to meet him over at Marks shop and I could pick my Bow up....
The specs of my Bow are 64" 48# @ 29" and it's the Mountain Bow model...The Camo one.
The limbs are Camo, Green, Black,Tan....and the Riser is Black with a light Green speckel....
And I got one of the Thunder horn Black Bow Quivers with it....
I shot it a little today, nice and smooth and quiet....
At 20yds I'm pretty good with it, I need to get used to the overall weight, I'm used to feather lite Longbows....
I just ordered some Hush Puppies for it and I got some AD's coming from Predator Archery....
The Legends Mountain Bow and the AD's will make one Deadly combo....
I will take some pictures soon....

Sounds like a nice bow.  I remember shooting dad's long bow as a kid (30# wood designed for youths) and have fond memories of that bow, but the recurves are more comfortable in the handle (to me at least) but they do weigh about 3 times what comparable long bow does, and in the old days gave a bit more arrow speed.

You'll get used to the extra weight in no time! Glad to hear you're having fun, and am looking forward to the pictures.

I had a chance to shoot the exact same bow but 2'bs heavier, it is a sweet shooter for the buck, and its pretty light,
I want to get one myself for the future

deadpool....
They are a great bow for the Money and they have Carbon in the limbs just like his more exspensive model....
And Mike told me that both models shoot just the same....

Mike---congrats, I guess now I will be shooting against you at the next tournament. Just so I dont get my mountain bow  mixed up I will be shooting this

except that I had Mike Rash make me a new handle.

This bow shoots awsome. I hunt with Mike R (too many Mikes) and I cant say enough about the quality-both the bow and the builder. Both my mountain bow and my exotic wood bow are identical in draw wt, etc... I can pick up either bow and shoot exactly where I want.

by the way my specs are 54lbs at 30 in and I shoot the Arrow Dynamic 31.5" at 600gr--these bows are maybe not the fastest but at 180fps I think it rocks and is very smooth with no stacking.

Mike--check out the pics I posted on page 8 of the trail cam thread--I hope I get to shoot that bear with this set up

take care--shoot straight Ben

Mike G...with a BOW QUIVER?????
This will take me a while to get my head around. Great looking bow, you shoot it well! Oh, and I like your butt, too.
Them arrows look mighty cozy in it.

I know its been forever since this thread was made...but I am most very interested in mountain bows...how do they perform? What can you tell me of the painted finish after a thousand or two arrows? How about overall durability? LOL I just am trying to warrant the purchase! If you could answer me either here or in pm I'd really appreciate it. Thank you very much.

You know we started building the Mountain Bow for the guys that hunted out of boats and were kinda tough on the finish of thier fancy bows with a clear finish. We have sold alot of Mountain Bows to our customers who already have one of our fancy finished bows. The nice thing is the Mountain Bow is made the same as our fancy bow the only diffrence is the finish. The riser is made of a solid maple riser.Maple limbs with black glass.Another thing about the camo finish is if you mare it just give it a spray of camo paint. The mountain bow makes a wonderful hunting or target bow.
