I'm sure someone will have a "homemade" tanning recipe.

I bought a "kit" from my taxidermist. Cheap and it has enough chemical to do three deer hair on.

Dixie tan, you can find it on line. Do a google search. It is super cheap and works great if you follow directions.

I've done a skunk skin only so far and it turned out pretty good.  Not a whole lot to it, but a deer hide will be a bit more work.  The hardest part is planning each step and there are time limits and needs for the soaking.

I used Riddel's EZ tan I belive it was called.  It is pretty easy.

Good luck!

Rittels sells kits that are inexpensive. Just google Rittels and you should find it.

If you dont have a fleshing beam and fleshing knife you can use a scalpel. Buy extra blades and change them often if doing a deer.

If fleshing a rabbit be careful because their skin is very thin...easy to cut holes in.

Good luck hunting and tanning too!
