Title: this sound ok?

how does this arrow set up sound for a 55# recurve.Gold Tip traditional 5575's @29-30in. with 100gr brass inserts and 145gr. field tips. I'm coming up with 515-525grs total weight with feathers included. I'm planning on hunting whitetails with it this fall. I'm new to this, gold tips website said this is the right spined arrow. Just wonderin what u pros thought.

With all of that extra weight up front and cut at 29-30" they should fly well. Only one way to tell though.

I have had excellent results with Easton Axis arrows. Beman sells the MFX Classic that essentially a wood grained version of the Axis. The 400 series would likely work for you. Actually, you could also try the 340 series if you really want all of the forward weight. 3 Rivers sells test packs with a variety of spines included as well at the weighted inserts. They are pretty tough arrows and seem to be very consistant.

I'm certainly no pro!

Oh yeah. If you do give the MFX a try I highly recommend footing them with a length of aluminum. I do that to my Axis shafts and they are nearly indestructable.
(except when you shoot the steel "no shoot" target at Denton Hill!)

Just asking here. Why not just use the33/55 with out the brass insert? Is it for the weight? I shoot a similar set up but use weight tubes in the 33/55 with 125 grain head & come up about 525gr. Or will the 55/75 set up usually shoot better? Mike

Thinking about it you could use the 55/75 w/ the weight tubes & inserts & get 600/625 gr. More options I guess. 33/55 for this year as I had them already when my new bow came. Mike

according to gold tip's site a 33/55 is not spined right for my bow.

I'm shooting the same thing out of a bow that draws 57# @ 29.  Flying like darts for me.  I think you're perfect right where you are.
