Hi all,
Well its been an eventful summer, finally got moved out of Illinois and back home to Wisconsin but then promptly got sent to California for work for most of the summer. I'm back now, at least semi permanently and thought I'd petition the Gangers for some advice about where to get out and get shooting. I'm confident in good advice because of my great luck and the hospitality of some members when I was out in CA (thanks again Kurt to you and your great family, I had a blast, and at least I shoot a little better than I surf :D ).
So I'm in West Allis by Milwaukee, I've seen Buck Rub Archery off 94 but haven't been there yet. Any suggestions where to fling some arrows or find some like minded people? Thanks in advance!
Jared
You probably wont find any/many stickbow shooters at Buckrub.Ojibwa has a trad shoot coming up Aug 9th, that is pretty close to you. If you come out to Neosho Archers on Thursday nights, we have open shooting & most of our club members are trad shooters, plus we have a lot of trad customers. It might be a little far for you, but it is an option.
Thanks Brian, what towns are Ojibwa and Neosho near? I googled Neosho and didn't find a location. I checked out Buck Rub yesterday afternoon and you're right, didn't look very traditionally oriented (but what big place really is) They had a really nice set up there though, indoor and outdoor 3-D etc. and friendly people.
Anyone else with suggestions?
jared,
Here's Ojibs website http://ojibwabowandarrow.tripod.com/ They are located in New Berlin. Like Big River said great shoot coming up next week.
You may also want to join the Wisconsin Trad Archers if you havnt already done so.
Jared, Neosho Archers is West of Hartford on Hwy 60. Go thru the stop sign on Hwy 67, 2 miles in the south side you will see the sign. I would guess 45 minutes from West Allis, (if you drive like me) Disregard the bridge out sign, we are before that.
I appreciate the help guys, I checked out the Ojibwas web site and its only 15 or 20 minutes away from me, perfect. I have some family coming into town for the weekend but I'm going to try and make it there for the shoot early Saturday if I can.
Well, why don't you try West Allis Bowmen? They have some great shoots coming up. There is Kenosha Bowmen with their trad shoot in a couple of weeks. Buck Trail in Burlington isn't far from you as well as Big Foot Archers and the WI Traditional Archers championship was just 2 weeks ago at Racine Instinctive Bowmen which is probably only a half hour from you. They have some great shoots coming up as well.
Ojibwa is definately the place to shoot in the Milwaukee area!
Everyone that's shot our course recently says it's the best course out there.
I'm running the shoot this weekend, and it's going to be an awesome event!
Feel free to call me , or show up on a Wednsday 4pm till dark for leagues, which are open to the public.

Your lucky to be in Wisconsin Jared. Nicest bunch of Traditional archers I've met. Compton's was full of those Badgers and they were all great and pretty darn good shots too! Once you get hooked up you'll be set.
