I had seen how to make a childrens board bow on Trad Gang and wanted to give it a try. I am by no means a bowyer but thought it would be a fun project for me and my little girl. Well it worked! I followed the directions for the most part and the bow turned o.k. I wish I had some better tools but that will come in time. She loves it and wants to shoot it but it is raining right now so we have to wait.

Totally cool! The smile says it all.
Bless your heart for trying, succeeding, and causing smiles like that, upatree. AND What a beautiful child you have - of course it always helps when it is obvious their smiles come from inside and shine out through the eys - as hers does! May the shooting and enjoyment of archery be a continuing thing for y'all.
OH, as soon as you get a Full Draw pic, post it, or send it to me (e-mail or PM) for my Traditional Bows Drawn Pages, please.

yes, it's red oak. I took a regular leather work glove and cut out the back side of the hand for the leather wrap.
Thanks for the nice words.
A big thank you to everyone for the nice replies.
Cute little girl... by the look of her arms, she will be pulling hunting wieght soon. Better keep building bows, she will be out growing them quickly!!
Judging by your daughter's smile, I'd say you are a top notch bowyer. Very well done Sir!
That's a great story. I know you and your daughter will have a lot of fun together.
I'd say that as a bowyer you have now impressed the most important customer you'll ever have. The smile says it all.

Congrats to you both! No better way to spend time IMHO than to build a bow with your kids
We did some shooting and she is loving it. She ask me everyday to shoot the "gun thing" :D

Congratulations!! A great job!
It's too bad more dad's don't take this kind of interest and action in their children's lives. We as a society are better off with dads like you. :notworthy:
Got your FD pic and will be posting it to my TBD pages, this AM (along with a couple other posts). Would you like to include her given name and age (not necessary - only if you feel comfortable with it)?
