i have a 29.5 dl, and want to go to a recurve and cant spend alot of money. this sells for about 300 and looks good. would it be a good choice? does bear have good customer service if something should go wrong? thanks for any info!
I have a Bear Grizzly and really like it. My dl isn't nearly as long as yours, but I don't know if that would be a problem. There are a lot of used Grizzly's on a certain auction site that usually go for less than $200 and are in like new condition. That's how I obtained mine.
The Bear Grizzly has been killing deer for 50 years.....As well today as it ever did!!!!!
Last year I killed my spikehorn with a 40 year old 1967 Bear Grizzly and an old green Bear Razorhead.
If you look around you can find a used Grizzly for $100 - $150 (PLEASE do NOT spend over $200.....This is what jacks the prices up to INSANE amounts)
Or you could buy new,the choice is yours. Either way,it's a good bow that will give you years of service!!!!!
With that draw length I'd search the classifieds and the auction site for a 62" Grizzly. They were that length untill 1962. Still very good shooters.

Hey, I bought the bear grizzly from cabelas.. in febuary..now I own six bows (3 longbows, 3 recurves)I know that the bear grizzly is a fine shooting bow for the money..but probabaly more than just a fine bow for the money.. a really good bow that you will be happy with..what the other guys are saying is true..look around and you can get a used bear for less money.. just as much bow..good luck...
Shawn..
I agree with Trap. At your draw length, look for a 62-inch bow. Might also consider a Howatt Hunter. Also a very nice bow in the same price range on that auction site. Should be able to get either for less than $200 there. Good luck.
I have a 30" draw and started on a new Grizz. Shooting for any length of time (and I did) got a little uncomfortable. Go up to a 62" bow and that goes away.
I'll (most likely) be hunting with a 1959 Grizzly this year (62") so yeah, the Grizz is a good choice! :)
