I have access to a 1/2 dozen old bear BH. 3 of them have the very tip chipped about 1/16" to 1/8". Can I sharpen the broken tips to a point and use it or will the flight be thrown off with my sharpened point? I would imagine that in tough times hunters would have just sharpend the chipped-tip to a sharp point and gone hunting. Just wanted to get others opinion.
Are you sure they aren't made that way on purpose? The chisel tip was recommended at one time, to have a stronger point.
Most broadheads benefit from filing back the tip 1/8 or so. Makes them much stronger. Simple file it like a chisel and you're good to go.
in short, yes they can be "fixed"
Don and Charlie hit it right on. All of my old Bear heads were "chiseled". And.... even if they really are broken a bit further back, just turn them into small game heads and keep using em !

Gents, thanks for your guidance. It's helped in my decision to get them. Quinn
