Title: Damon Howatt Hunter brace height
Post by: BowHuntingFool on July 27, 2008, 06:00:00 PM
Hello all, a guy I met while shooting at the range  this summer picked up a recurve fairly cheap at a sale. While he was shooting it for the first time yesterday I noticed how low he had the brace height, not good. I told him I would look into the proper brace height and what it should be.

The Hunter I had liked 7&7/8.I believe the recomended range is 7&3/4 to 8&1/4.

Have him start at 7-1/2" and go up a twist and shoot, and repeat the process a twist at a time until it sounds very quiet when he shoots.  Then have him go past a twist at a time until it begins to get noisy.  He should then take out the number of turns that he twisted past the quiet stage, string the bow and measure the BH.  That's the BH his bow needs with him shooting it.
