Whats your favorite hunting song?
I know there are some trad bowhunting CDs out there but I havent had the chance to listen to any. But my two favorite hunting songs are the mossy oak song by tracy byrd and Fred Bear by Ted Nugent.-Scott
Nugent's Fred Bear is the first coming to mind.
Not hunting music, but Waylon in my truck all Fall long is an unbroken tradition for me. His music takes me hunting and many other places every time I hear it.
Uncle Ted's "Fred Bear"!!!!!!!!!!
Also, I have the soundtrack to "The Last Of The Mohicans" that I listen to on my way up north to hunt with my "Brother" adkmountainken!!!!! :archer: :archer:
Maggies Farm, Bob Dillon
Fred Bear & Great White Buffalo
"Fred Bear" and "My bow and arrow", both by Uncle Ted!
Theme from "Gilligan's Island".
"My Uncle Used To Love Me But She Died"....
Roger Miller :bigsmyl:
Nugent's "Fred Bear" and
Peter Gabriel's "Rhythm of the Heat".
Makes a man feel down right woolly.
Number 1-Fred Bear by Ted. Number 2- "Willforce get off that horse and bring him in for lunch, bring the saddle and we will Bar-B-Q it too". Number3-Blood on the tail gate.
fred bear by tednugent....really seems to get ya pumped up for the woods .
Heres a good one. Backwoods Boy by Josh Turner.
enjoy

I know this is not what you were probably looking for but my choice would be J.S. Bach's Fugue in G minor BWV 578 known to most as the little fugue, but also and more importantly known as "the Hunter". To me that is real music to kill by. :readit:
Whiskey for my men, Beer for my horses. DB
Country Boy Can Survive by Hank Jr. always hits the spot.
Peter and the Wolf
- a musical story by Sergei Prokofiev -
(http://i7.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/fc/ac/c16f_1.JPG)
I will second Josh Turner's Backwoods Boy.
Anything by the Allman Brothers.
Chad K. Slagles music is great. That's all I've had in my truck for a while now.
Bakes
The sound of my bow and arrow in perfect harmony. With a little breeze and a few birds sing'n backup.
Nuge's "Fred Bear"
Chris LeDoux's " Call of the Wild"
Lynyrd Skynyrds " All I can do is write about it"
Metallica's "Of Wolf and Man"
Happy hunting,
Jason
"Hold the pickles hold the lettuce...." :smileystooges:
where you at rock where you at. by kid rock
and clap for the wolfman. by wolfman jack :biglaugh:
For me its gotta be "Louisiana Saturday Night" by Mel McDaniel. A local radio hunting show always starts with this tune at 4 am when I am driving to the hunting camp. I can remember hearing it when I was 7 riding with my dad to go bang up some rabbits.
rings back great memories.
You can hear the song here:

Hey Guys,
I would have to go along with bakes168 on Chad Slagle's music. I am a huge Beatle's fan but I listen to Chad's "High, Wild and Free" CD probably more than anything for the last year. I think my grandson and I know every song by heart now. Chad's Fred Bear tribute, "Man in the Borsalino Hat", ranks with me right their with Uncle Ted's.
Danny J
sswv I second Hank Williams Jr cause country boys can survive :archer: . Is it just me or does a good song on the way to the tree stand put you in the zone. also the mossy oak song by tracy byrd is probably one of the only songs that will make me cry. Makes me think of my dad. Anyone ever hear it?
Kenny Rodgers- The Gambler, Coward of the County
Metallica - Kill Um All, Sandman
Garth Brooks Friends in low places
Ozzy Osborn - Diary of a Madman
Strangely enough those are my favorite drinking songs too.
In no particular order -
Led Zepplin - Immigrant Song
Ted Nuge - Fred Bear
Skynard - Simple Man
Darryl Worley - A Good Day To Run
Pat McCurdy - Sex and Beer
All get me ready with a smile and a positive attitude.
:D
And just becuase you can't mention Fred Bear without a good video - this one's my favorite.

Ole Slewfoot. Sing it with me...
"High on the mountain tell me what do you see
Bear-tracks bear-tracks lookin' back at me
Better get your "bow" boy before it's too late
Cause the bear's got a little pig and headed through the gate
He's big around the middle and he's broad across the rump
Runnin' ninety miles an hour takin' thirty foot a jump
Ain't never been caught he ain't never been treed
And some folks say he look a lot like me
Yee ha !

Chris Ledoux-Call of the Wild. Not my video, but it is Chris\\' song. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gptmzVH7S9U)
Anything By Chris, but his song really rings true. I grew up with him and his kids.
Western Skies, also by Chris ledoux. You\\'ll have to go the file and upload it. IT a few bulls killed trad the last couple of years. (https://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=batch_download&batch_id=Q01IS3dqaytQb0x2Wmc9PQ)

Hard to beat Rocky Mountain High.
Also, theres a song on a Primos video called
Uncle Ted is my first choice, but the Gilligan's Island theme song is kinda catchy
Pretty much anything NOT by ted nugent.
He tends to constipate me.
Steve
I have very eclectic musical tastes and I never travel far or afield without a mini iPod loaded with Andreas Vollenweider's "The Trilogy" and "Down to the Moon" - AVAF (http://www.vollenweider.net/magazine/main.php?c=en)
"A-hunting we will go, a-hunting we will go, hi ho the derry-o, a-hunting we will go."
Is that what it's called? eclectic?

Biggie, youse is too much. :D
I kinda got hooked on Jack Bower's (He makes quiver's and leather stuff, solo Stalker etc.)
"Bad Ballads for Bowhunters".In particular one about a bull elk:
"Mighty Mighty Bull up on the Hill Six Point monster I see, if I do my part, and play it real smart, that mighty mighty bull will belong to me." ......... "he's still on the hill Bill!" :biglaugh:
He has CD that he will will send you. All good campfire singing stuff. you can get in touch through Dean Torges.
Who recorded, I think it's called "Wanted" or "Dead or Alive"? It was played on the radio yesterday. Gave me that "walk to your own beat" feeling, like you get when you're hunting with a longbow!
I HUNT--- By Chad K. Slagle
There's an old man dressed in black
He's a holy man they say
Preaches blessing for tomorrow
But I have found them here today
He tells me Jesus is my savior
And I can be with him in time
But I've already met the savior
On the trail, at the end of a long hard climb
That man may miss me Sunday morning
But my temple is a grove of pine
And my altar is a cedar stump
'Cause I HUNT
A man with years of education
And initials by his name
Looks to his prescriptions
As a way to keep them sane
He tells me I must be crazy
To hike so far into those hills
But if they knew what I'd found there
They wouldn't need his little pills
They'd pick up a bow and arrow
And feel alive again
And have the courage
To not be numb
If they'd just HUNT
There's a young man on the corner
Trying hard to understand
Why he doesn't have a Daddy
To show him how to be a man
So he falls in with the wrong crowd
And he's taught a life of crime
But he may have chose a different path
If someone just took the time
We can't turn our backs
And simply look away
We need to take those boys
And treat them like our sons
And show them how to HUNT
I may not have all the answers
And I'm not always right
But I bet I'll save a few before I'm done
And they'll HUNT
I HUNT
I HUNT
I think it is one of my best, anyway...
I can't believe nobody has mentioned "the second week of deercamp" and "Da Turdy Pointer" by the Yoopers.
"I just wanna go huntin'" Ted Nugent
It seems like more often than not when I drive to a hunting place "Free Bird" by Skynard comes on the radio and has become my hunting anthem. Like "Fred Bear" by the nuge as well.
Hobo Jims "wild and free"
They are not particularly hunting songs, but a couple of my favorites are Don Williams' Lord I hope this day is good and Bill Dance's theme song from his old show.
Jim Bowman. Ilisten in my shop all the time.
J.P.

Bon Jovi
I guess I'll have to vote for my old country buddy Bocephus. Here I am at Hank's place in West Tennessee. He gave a third cannon, like the one I'm leaning on in the photo, to the "Man in Black", big John Cash.

This one comes to mind after shooting that Buck during the Rut...."He stopped Loving her today" By the Old Possem himself George Jones.... :knothead:
Second Week...I second that, and My Rusty Chevrolet! T'irdy-point buck sounds too much like the audio from a film of questionable moral integrity.
After about 48 choruses of Gilligan's Island, I could go for Beethoven's Sixth. Or Yes' Close to the Edge. Music stays in the truck, but my mind conjures all kinds of stuff in the woods. Now, who's up for The Donna Reed Show?
Killdeer :D :wavey:
Anything by Jim Bowman.
Not too hunting related but some favorites... The Gambler and Coward of the County by Kenny Rogers.
Danny I love the Bill Dance theme song
"The sun just starting to climb up over the tree tops and its goin be a beautiful day just wait and see. But I wont be around at all so dont even bother to call cause on a day like today theres only one place i gotta be" 15 feet in a tree with my longbow oh ya-Scott
Here's a site that has the mossy oak song
its at the top of the home page.

The whole album "Animals", by Pink Floyd.
"Fred Bear" by Ted is also a favorite.
Chad "the singing bowyer's" - Longbow Country!!
I second drew....chads music is top notch!
Well Jim Bowman has some great songs so this is a tough choice, but the tradganger Mark Baker has some pretty great ones himself. I'm going to have to say his song about Monty ranks way up there. It's gonna have to be a tie between his Monty song and "Call of the Woods" I don't know if he has a new cd out yet w/ that song. Mark if your out there... keep the music going!!! I'm always ready to hear more :clapper:
country roads....john denver....great tune

I always thought there was humorous irony in listening to JD while on my way to hunting.
Here's a funny one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th3-0YaBtsE
Hit one last fall and went back to the truck to wait for the "tracking team" to come back in. Drank a couple of beer's and put in Neil Young's "Decade" CD, disk 1 and 2. Sat on the tailgate listening to Neil and when the boys finally came in we went out and did our thing. Came back in and we had tenderloins that night.
That night, being with good friends and the music will stick in my mind forever.
"Wish You Were Here", by Pink Floyd.
"Another one bites the dust"
"Feathers through The Wind" Mark Baker
Anything by Waylon. Especially his version of "Can't You See".
Anything by Chad Slagle. Especially "I Hunt".
Sprinkle with some Bluegrass and a little Greatfull Dead and it's time to head for the mountains!
"Gravedigger", Dave Matthews
