Okay guys I have been making arrows for years with the gasket laquer but I have been building some primitive arrows for my selfbows, my question is I have a hand rubbed finish of Watco Teak oil on them, do I need to put anything else on them as a sealer or hardener? Or can I just glue my fletch on with hide glue or Duco or what works the best? I thought of Duco with a sinew wrap down the length of the fletch. Not sure if Duco will stick or not to the Watco hand rubbed finish? Any suggestions?
Anybody?
You don't need ant other finish, Watco will be fine. On my primitive arrows I use Tru oil and then glue my feathers on with Barge contact cement and a sinew wrap.
Hope that helps.
Thanks alot LW.
I've used Duco to glue feathers to watco treated shafts. You won't need any other finish as long as the watco was able to soak into the shaft some. May not be enough if you just have a few light coats.
