In an attempt to give mtself some good mojo for my first ever deer hunt, I skinned my beautiful longbow made by V-archery in the Netherlands. This bow is fast and quiet. I was hesitant to do it to such a beautiful bow, but I really like the way it turned out!

SWEET!!! Brian we have to shoot soon. Gonna hook up at Jamies August 3rd. the week before the Muzzy. I think we can get Curt to come along too! Shawn
Nicely done!
wow!!! real swaeeet. is that hard to do? is there a special way to put the skins on. and with what sort of glue do ya use?
Easy to do. Apply Titebond II or III.The first coat is like a primer or sizing coat. While the glue is drying, soak the skins in lukewarm water. After the glue dries, apply a second coat of glue. Blot the skins on a towel and then lay them on the bow taking your time to center them. Pysh the air bubbles out with your finger or popsickle stick. Once they set up, trim the edges with a razor blade. If you trim them before they dry completely you can wipe the excess glue off with a damp rag or sponge. Some people wrap the skins with ace bandages after they apply them. I have done that, but these I didn't and they turned out great. When you soak the skins and lay them on the bow they kind of hang over the edges nice. When you wrap them with bandages sometimes the skins move around on you a little. After they dry completely, apply a piece of duct tape over the skins and press lightly. Carefully pull the tape off to remove the excess scales. Apply poly or some kind of finish. Hope that was clear enough. Brian
horatio, that is cool my friend.
That's a good looking bow! Good job! ;)

Very nice! That is one sweet looking bow!!!
Real nice indeed. :clapper:
Looks good, I'm contemplating putting snakeskins on one of my Sovereigns.
Excellent job Brian!! That looks really nice and good luck on your first deer hunt!!
Hi Brian,
Looks great, good job. How does the bow shoot with the new backing? Are the new strings satisfactory?
:archer:
Arnold
I saw this bow before skinning, so I know why you hesitated. I think it came out great bro! I miss all the good stuff now that the State has me working almost every waking hour.
Nicely done. What do you need to be ready by the fall?
Great Job ! looks fantastic
Awesome job!!!
Ray ;)
Arnold, there is no noticeable difference in performance. It shot great before the skins and it shoots great now. The bow is extremely quiet. I absolutely love it! Thanks for the extra strings! You build a great bow!
Jamie, I need someone to push some deer to me so I can git me one o' dem critters!
Brian
thanks brian that was good now i have to see about getting some rattle snake skins. and yes i can get them through our customs. :goldtooth:
I can put the deer in your lap Brian....only up here the landowner doesnt want anything without antlers killed.
Again, nice skinning job. And an application is still here for you....ya know you want to go.
Sweet!
Just wondering, did you kill the snake or buy the skinn?
bought the skins
