All I can say is WOW!! As a lot of you know I do my bunny hunt every year and we hold a raffle to benefit the ST. Judes kids. Well Kevin and Sue at RER were kind enough to donate a gift certificate toward a new bow. Guess what? I was lucky enough to win and promptly ordered a new XR their newest T/D design. I added a bit of money and asked Kevin to do something special for me and make me a "Bunny Bow"!! The mailman came today and when I opened the box I was speechless and for guys who know me that is saying something. I am not ashamed to say the sight of this bow brought tears to my eyes. My Mom who the hunt is named after(Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt) would of been proud of this one. It is 58"s long and has a Leopardwood and Purpleheart riser with a swoop and another peice of purpleheart and Leopardwood with an overlay of Waterfall bubinga which matches the limb veneers. I wanted it special, well Kevin also added about 4"s of Leopardwood veneer to the limbs where the limb bolts are. I am gonna have lots of pics. up by this evening so please check back!! I want to again thank Kevin and Sue for their great work and working with me to get the bow of my dreams!!! Shawn

Here are some pics guys. They do not do this bow justice, to see it first hand, it truly is breath-taking. Shawn called me this am, and was talking excitedly about a bow and pics and stuff. I had just gotten up and was kinda blurry eyed and stumbling towards the coffee pot, working these hours are tough. Anyway, he showed up about twenty minutes later with this beauty. Absolutely stunning bow. Im sure it will be hunted hard and account for numerous harvests. Congrats Shawn...shoot her straight.

All I can say is, "WOW"
-
Wow,that's beautiful...and Kevins' bows are shooters too.Was glad to see you draw that gift certificate as I know how much you like your other RER and deserve another. You bringing it to Muzzy?
-
Thanks guys, it is not only stunning, it is a shooter. I strung it up as soon as I opened the box. I went out to shoot and the 150s I shoot off my other RER Arroyo were weak even though they are 1# apart 51#s and 52#s @ 28"s.(I draw 28.5") I had to slow the string down just a tad, so I went in the house and saw Leroys(Goldenhawks) bow hanging there. Sue sent me one of his bows to raffle off for a trust fund for his daughter. I knew it was 58"s, same as mine and it had a string with bowhush wrapped on the ends and 2 big puffy silencers. I thougt that would be the ticket. I put the string on my new bow and went outside, it was incredible, nothing but lazers downrange. This bow is super quick and very quiet. I could not be happier to say the least. MY cameraman(Ishiwannabe) did a great job, but ya really have to see it in person to appreciate it. I will have it at the Muzzy for sure!! Kevin worked some magic on the grip for me as well and customised it to perfection!! As I said up top my Mom would be proud of us guys and gals!! Shawn
-
Hap, ya know you are welcome anytime!! If anyone is thinking about one of these bows just call Kevin, he and Sue are the best you find!! Shawn
-
Nice.Love them lams.
-
Congrats Shawn! See Ya At Muzzy! :)

I'm usually not a fan of Purple Heart, but on this one I like it. Great looking bow.
-
wow!!!!!! (http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh305/jeffburg/awesomesmiley.gif)
-
I like PH because it adds good weight to a riser and it looks great with the Leopardwood! Shawn
-
Shawn;
How does it perform compared to the rest of your bows?
Dave
-
Dave, it is quicker than anything I own and it shoots like a dream, with the static tips it is almost like the bow has a let-off. A lot of bows less than 60"s can be critical of release, this one and my Arroyo lets me get away with a lot. I have put about 200 arrows thru it already and now the hard part will be which RER to hunt with or shoot the Muzzy with for that matter. Shawn
-
That's a great looking bow for sure...and even better when they shoot good too. ;)
-
Shawn--congrats on your new RER--it looks awesome and I KNOW it shoots better than it looks...I do not have too many bows on the rack anymore but my RER Vortex gets the workout 90plus % of the time..the bow is forgiving, casts an arrow with authority and is well balanced.........can't wait too see it at the Muzzy--------Mark
-
Mark, can't wait to walk those mountains! Shawn
-
WoW! Outstanding bow Shawn! I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin and Sue at Comptons. Top notch folks for sure.
-
Sweet looking bow, Shawn!!! Those woods go great together!!
David

Top shelf work, as always. Nice bow!
-
she's a beaut bud!! Best of luck with it....I know that one won't be going anywhere!!
-
Thanks guys!! Curt she is a perfect companion to my Arroyo. She will be my Bear bow instead of Bunny bow next spring! Shawn
-
Nice bow Shawn!
-
RER does it again-no surprise there. Fine looking bow.
-
Shawn, that leopardwood is outstanding. Jamie, great pictures on short notice. Nice!
-
Jamie did a nice job considering he was still sleeping! It shoots like a dream! Shawn

Sweetlooking bow.

I cannot imagine you with the volume turned off! :scared:
That is a looker for sure, Shawn. You got some primo wood, the grain is stunning. Glad to hear that it shoots so well, and lives up to its incredible appearance. Well done all around, and certainly well deserved. Congrats!

Shawn, That is one awesome looking bow. Got my 54" arroyo in March. Bocote riser Zebra limbs.Fast, smooth, best shooting bow I ever owned. RER bows rock!
Doubleo
-
that is really hot!! I'm not even a big fan of purple heart, but I sure do like that. I bet it is even better in person.
-
Kevin and family have reached the "A" list of custom bowyers, with hardwork, honesty, and the desire to always improve.
-
Thanks everyone and yes they are right up there with the best. I really wanted purple heart and osage but I saw the Leopardwood and than got the two together through some computer magic and said now that is stunning!! Glad I got it!! Shawn
-
That's the ugliest bow I've ever seen, Shawn! I'll be glad to take it off'n your hands for a couple of bucks (I'm thinking $50 or so should be gnerous enough) so your friends won't poke fun of you..... :bigsmyl:
-
Real nice Shawn...can we all shoot it this Feb?
Congrats on winning a fine bow...
-
Very nice Shawn
Best of luck with it
Bob
-
Shawn, That is a beautiful bow, Congrats my man.
P.
-
It is gonna be my main bow for the Bunny Hunt, I am sure it will get its battle scars with the stuff we go thru! My son-in-law(Nomad88) stopped by and shot it some and was amazed at how quick it was but more impressed at how quiet it is and with some bowhush installed it is almost silent. Shawn
-
I am taking it out Chuck hunting this afternoon. There is a couple raiding my buds garden, 150 grain Snuffer should do the trick!! Shawn
-
Man, that bow turned out nice! I have never been a big fan of purpleheart either but that combo worked out well. RER bows has always peaked my interest but I have yet to get my paws on one to try it out. You going to Denton Shawn? I'll have my Snakebit (47#) in tow and have a Tradgang shoot set up on the Nine Mile course for Saturday at noon. Maybe I can dance with your sweetheart, and you with mine(this only applies to bows, you know...)? Hope to meet you and put a handshake on ya!
Jerry
-
Jerry, my wifes dad passed away a few days ago and i am not going to make it. I was planning on spending the weekend this year! You wil not be dissapointed with an RER, I am sure people will have them at Denton! Shawn
-
Beautiful bow Shawn! Love the Leopard wood....
-
Jerry, You will get your chance to try RER bows. I am going to have a dozen of them with me and will have them in Tom Phillips vendor booth. Look me up!
Beautiful bow Shawn!
-
That sure is one beautiful bow!
-
Beautiful Shawn..you can't miss with that one.
-
SWEEEEEET!!!!! Congrats Shawn.
-
Shawn
Thanks for the tip on the new style riser that RER has.. I agree with you.. Its nicer than the old..Sweet to hear its more forgiving as well.. I was looking used, but may have to curb my enthusiasm for something "right away" and wait to have a new one built..
I have had a lot of nice bows, but never even shot an RER... Sounds like it would even "spank" my Big East bows... Sounds like the bowyer is a nicer person as well.
Gene-O
-
Gene,
The wait on RER is worth every lousy minute and nicer people to find than Kevin and Sue will hard to do.
-
Very nice Shawn congrads on your new toy
Now we all know that you and Larry have a common problem :biglaugh: and with that in mind am I gonna get a chance to shoot her ??? yea yea ya say that now but time has a funny way of telling everything :biglaugh:
Good luck and enjoy your new toy
-
Un-FREAKING-BELIEVABLY great looking bow Shawn.
-
Great bow Shawn looks like a keeper good luck with it. TD.
-
Nice Shawn,
And what Tom said, worth the wait and Kevin and Sue are great to work with. Shot my friend's (Kevin G.) XR, came home and talked with Kevin, and put in my order for one with a second set of limbs. Now the wait!
-
George i can miss with anything. Gene they may have an in stock one that fits ya as well!! i am really liking it, I have it tuned to perfection and it is super quiet, no woodchucks this evening but maybe tomorrow! Thanks guys! Shawn
-
Nice looking bow Shawn. Love those Waterfall Bubinga veneers!
This fall I should have my LXR. I still hesitate on the thought of both longbow and recurve limbs. I worry that I will really like one over the other and thus one collects dust.
-
Up for a buddy to look at! Shawn
-
RER's always made some nice shooting bows, but there's nothing they've ever had that shoots like this new XR. Something magic here.

This bow smokes and it is very quiet. I shot it yesterday in my daughters basement and it was by far the quietest of the five bows we shot. Shawn
