-
Wow got 4 interested already !!!

How many hunters and how much?
Thanks
Terry
-
Just a REMINDER dates avaliable are:

-
Tom: I guess I don't need to tell you... I'm in. And for you guys on the fence... don't even hesitate. Read my lips... GREAT HUNT. Thanks. bw
-
-
Tom, sign me up as well....can't take it....gotta go....
Kevin
-
Wow, Tom, the lodge is filling up fast. Followers of the other Bear Quest thread know that I have nothing but good things to say about your operation. This hunt needs to be shared, so I'm gonna hold off on 2009. Not only is the hunting GREAT, but sharing the camp with our TradGang brothers makes for a really fun week.
-
I am in as well! Shawn
-
-
Dang, What's all the fuss about  Oh I remember Now, Everyone had a chance at at least one Bear, Great bunch of hunting buddies, and Bowdoc as cook! Plus Tilly will add her nose to the pot next year ;)
Might even get the forge goin' by next June!
Not a bad way to spend a few days off...Doc
-
Doc, are ya in for III, or is that a dumb question?
-
Heck, I should have read your entire post, just got all beside myself thinking about III.
-
Matt, I'll be there with all my bells on :D Got nothing in the fire for R&D unless Bowdoc is serious about using a forged spear head
I'll just be huntin' and be holdin' out for one of them Tippit knives & PV bows next year ;) Doc
-
Doc, I will use a forged spearhead, I saw a video of it and that would be something!!! Dead Serious by the way!! Don and I could sit together and if the opportunity arose!! OOOHHHH YEAHHHHHH!!! Shawn
-
I'd be willing to try that as well. What would we call our little group, "Team SpEARit?!" :D
-
How many more you have room for Tom?
-
Got about 6 spots left for JUNE 20-27 th YOU IN ??
-
Do you have a spot for me Tom? I'll talk with you Wednesday - I'm on my way now!
-
Whip glad you came to your sinces finally....who would want to shoot a bloody kangaroo anyhow....I don't know about the spear guy's...I may just stick with the bear T/D and razor head. The spear is kind of well you know....not so legal....bowdoc
-
Guys-don't pass this up if you can find any kind of way to swing it. It's definitely as good a time as can be had. Grant Young
-
Bowdoc: You can fletch up the spear and call it an arrow. Considering your past friendship with the Canadian Game Wardens I bet you could talk your way out of it. Hey... so you'll be the only kid on the block shooting arrows that weight eighteen million grains. xoxo U.B.
-
Geez...
I really want to go on this hunt. But money is tight right now, so I better not sign up.
Hopefully I'll get to make it one of these years!
-
-
Cool !!! I will have booth on outside row of separate tents I will have a bunch of Vintage Fred Bear & Howard Hill type photos.
Tom P.S. There will be others there as well to sign up and I will start taking deposits this weekend.
Have a safe drive.
Tom
-
Morning Gents leaving for denton in about 1 hr.See you Bear Questers there !!!
-
Thats a great idea UB now all I need is a bow that will shoot a spear 196 f.p.s.and were in business....I will be working on that....see ya all real soon......bowdoc
-
I thought the spear was legal, it is Maine i do believe. Shawn
-
Bowdoc - BW....and don't forget the turbulator. :D
(just for clarification, that's Black Widow, not Uncle Berry)
-
We'll bend a sapling down, tie it off and have a spearchucker good to go! Eric can make one I am sure! We can also use it to launch Bowdoc in the general direction of the Game Wardens if we see them coming again-they'll be glad to see him I understand and so will probably leave the rest of us alone! :bigsmyl:
-
Who's in for second week?
-
I'am in.............bowdoc
-
reporting for duty...fatman :bigsmyl:
-
Tom: After I PM'd you I talked to Laura and it is a go for me...add me to the list, please.
-
Bowdoc, I'll have one of those Fedoras for next year. We'll be the best dressed dudes in those Quebec woods.
-
Matt, I am in for week two next year. Can't wait!
-
Oh yeah Matt we will look so good.BlkDog your in the second week ???? Hey Bill if Tom did not or does not respond to you guy's emails or pms he is at Denton until sunday morning.Said he would be home sunday evening.........yahooooooooooooooooooooooooo bowdoc
-
Tom if there is still room for another, count me in as well,if not I'll try again next time. Looking forward to it!
Fred
-
Bowdaddy, Tom should have me on the list scheduled for week two. 11 months and and counting down...Yeehaw! Can't wait to see you guys again. I have a grudge match scheduled with the "double bullseye" boar, if he makes it through the first week. A bit un-nerving at the time, but I have had my close encounter and I wouldn't trade that experience for the world. I am definitely hooked!!
A half mount should be done around Christmas this year. When I see it, I have a feeling that I won't be worth a darn until I cross that border again in June!
Matt, I hope you arrive with some pics of Stubby in your trophy room.
-
I may have mentioned early on in quest 2 thread....About it's not just the hunting thats good with Tom and company....but the whole show is great.I always learn alot while in Que'bec about people, bears, bows, arrows and broadheads.I learned alot this year for sure.Without a dout the best hunt I've ever been on and looking forward to next year already myself....bowdoc
-
I think bowdoc says it best, the whole show is great. I learned a lot, and I met and spent time with some of the finest people I have ever had the opportunity to hunt with.
I went on this trip without ever meeting any of the guys before. If anyone is hesitant to sign up, rest assured you will feel like you have known these guys your whole life, or wish that you did! A truly incredible group of people make this hunt a gathering you will always remember.
-
Mornin Gents,
I am back from Denton.I see a few more became interested in Bear Hunt 2009' while i was away :-)
Had some gents pickin my ear about it at denton Too !! I just sent emails to new interested gangers.
-
Is it true that everyone has to shoot a 59 Kodiak to celebrate the 50th anniversary?
-
Why yes it is...you must use a 59 K and if you don't have one....I will have several rentals. You otta make the trip sometime Lon,you will have a blast...bowdoc
-
Tom very interested gonna send you a pm when i get back to my computer.
-
Tom, Just sent you a PM. If you've still got room, I'd like to join ya'll.
LD
-
Bowdoc, I sent Tom a PM for more info. I wanted the week when both you and Rich Lopez would be there. I like cheap entertainment with my popcorn. :scared:
-
Bh I think Rich is going to be in camp the second week, may check with Tom to be sure.Wow that may be cool to see how many 1959 Kodiaks we could assemble on one hunt....but for air travel I been using the Bear T/D.I just pack it into my bag and away we go...bowdoc
-
Just PM'd & emailed couple new interested parties.Keep me posted gents !! Maybe one year it will be ALL Bear bows in honor of Fred Bear.
-
Tom,
I think it will soon be having you spend all bear season up there. All bear with Bear with Bear-Boy! :)
-
Larry Dix in Canada... :scared: :p Holy Balls Boys... as c@kdoc would say. This is gonna get good........ LOL I am running out of bear meat!
-
If there are any openings left I'd like to go. That way Kevin can have Someone to ride with. Could someone P.M. Me with details please?
-
Wish I could go but I'll be deployed again....have fun and post pics when its done!!!!
-

Hope you can make it to Quebec with us sometime !!!
-
Holy balls this is getting better and we got almost 11 months to go.Get ahold of them boot straps lady's and hang on....your in for a wild ride........bowdoc
-
Thank you for serving Dave! I hope to hunt with you up there next year!
-
Are you gonna be there again Ron? Larry & Ron in the same place?! Hide the beer! :clapper:

You guys are good entertainment! :clapper:  :biglaugh:
LD
-
Hey Tom
Been on vacation for a while. Hope you saved my spot.
Nate
-
Nate glad to see your in for next bear quest...this is gonna get good I can smell it already.....bowdoc
-
My deposit is on its way cant wait!!
This is my first bear hunt so can someone tell me what its going to be like?-Scott
-
Scott, It's gonna be lots and lots of fun!!!!! and, you just might have a good time too.
-
I can smell it to bowdoc. Smells like stink bait. HAHA
-
Scott, You are gonna have the time of your life- or at least in the top three "times of your life." Good companions, good food, lotsa bears, and enough to do so that you won't be bored. Tom and his guys (Eric, Lloyd, Allen& Bowdoc) do an incredible amount of preparation setting stands and establishing baits. Tom also coordinated the quarters, supplies, and transportation so you'd think about all there would be for you to do is eat, sleep, and shoot a bear. Don't jump to conclusions. There is plenty for every man to do and in my opinion that makes this a super experience for a hunter of any experience level. The week will fly by and you'll leave knowing considerably more about bears than you would believe. How to judge size, how to skin, how to butcher, etc. You also will probably get to see and maybe participate in some of the most impressive blood-trailing I've seen in forty years of hunting. All of this is wrapped up in an atmosphere of comraderie and support unequaled anywhere except maybe the battlefield. This may sound overstated now, but I'm certain you will agree after your hunt unless something changes drastically between now and next June. It will take a catastrophic turn of events to keep me away. I'd probably try to make it if we were hunting groundhogs. Grant
-
Man I'm all pumped up and its so far away. I might have to pass on the beers though not old enough to enjoy brew. Are the bugs going to be bad? How far are the shots? How high are the stands? Thats all the questions I can think of now. I'm really excited about this.-Scott :archer:
-
Bugs are "world-class"- Thermacells are a must. Six feet is a pretty high stand, I shot my bear at thirty feet or so-pretty close. I've shot carp that far away, lol. Bowdoc was close to his that he said he got some spray blowback on impact. Pretty exciting stuff. I get excited about going, excited about being there, and then it starts all over and I'll get excited about going back, and on and on and on. Grant

Scott E - check out this thread....if you think you're excited now, you won't be able to sleep after reading this....
:bigsmyl:
Kevin
:campfire:
-
Here ya go Scott (for height of stands). The one bowdoc and I hunted from last year was about this height but what, 3yards away, max? Looking forward to having you join us!
-
thanks everyone just finished looking over the pictures from last year and all I can say is is it june yet? Some nice bears were taken last year. I'm glad I wont have to practice my long range shooting or worry about falling out of a tree.
What do you guys think of my bear setup 47#@30" recurve with 31" carbon express heritage shafts with a 200g muzzy phantom up front. Fletched with nanners of course. Can't wait to meet everyone-Scott
-
Scott,
Your set up will work just dandy.Arrow placement is the key !!
-
Scott your set up will work great...as mentioned by our ramrod Tom....shot placement will lead to a short blood trail....see ya real soon......bowdoc
-
Just letting you Bear Questers & Bear Questers to Be know that I started taking DEPOSITS this past weekend for Bear Quest 2009'.Deposit of at least $250.00 will be fine with another payment due before END of this year.
Be sure ti put your complete mailing address, tel # along with TRAD name for me.I will send NEW "List of What to Bring" to everyone when they are finished.
There are still a few more spots on 2nd week !!
Do not hesitate to touch base with me with questions.
Tom
-
How many guys are planning on using SELFbows for Bear Quest III ?
Bowdoc you had better start warming up the Yew Longbow your son made with the help of Glenn P&Y St.Charles !!!
-
You gotta be kidding me.From the tree stand I hunted out of last year. And one of my favorites I might add...The Bowl...you know my bottom limb will hit the ground from that stand....it's only 3 feet off the ground....add a 76" long to the mix and I see danger. That could result in me being flipped out of the tree stand....bowdadddy
-
bowdoc I fully expect to see you riding one of those bears back to camp one day! :)
Tom,
What will be the total cost this year and when will the balance be due?
Thanks
Steve
-
Hey Steve the bow Tom wants me to use next spring is long enough,I could add Springers spear head to it.....I'll stick with the T/D for now..........bowdoc
-
Been digging up some scrumtous sounding recipes for Bear Quest III,will have the misses make some of them !!
-
sweet tater pie ??????????? bowdoc
-
Ron's Marinated Venison Cubes?? :saywhat: LOL
-
bowdoc's deep fried BBB's.........bowdoc
-
One vote for Paula's Bavarian Bear Stew. Excellent.
-
Bear chili except I didn't take a bear this year! :)
-
Toast & Marmite! :D :D :D
-
yeah, Rob, you gotta bring some of that Marmite...I'm intrigued....
-
Curveman I don't thnk the type of meat you used had anything to do with the explosive-ness of your fine chili.....Can't wait to eat some next spring yum yum......bowdoc
-
Last week at Denton Hill around the campfire we had BAVARIAN Bear Stew my wife made up from recipe I had in my collection of wildgame recipes.
Paul V. & the boys liked it,may have to have some on Bear Quest III.Maybe even some Count Neck Little Necks that were scrumptous at Denton as well !!
-
Tom you are a little neck....well actually you have no neck..sorry to have to be the one to break the news....see ya soon...Your father bowdoc
-
That definitely was a good feed at Denton. Paula's stew and I think we boiled 4 large pots of little neck clams with butter. I would have taken pictures but my finger were too slippery to hold the camera :) Doc
-
I am in !! :campfire:
-
Oh yeah, this is gonna get good.....bowdoc
-
This past JUNE there were Gangers from 15 different States for Bear Quest II,wonder if there will be some NEW States represented 2009'Bear Quest III ?
-
May I ask whom has traveled the furthest distance to attend bear quest 1-2- and soon to be 3.......I bet I'am purty near the top of that list...I believe I've logged around 24,000 plus miles traveling to bear hunt with you son...ya gotta love it huh.......pa
-
Yes Sir,
You have traveled the farthest for sure !! I just finished BEAR QUEST III "List of Things to Bring" and will mail to all as deposits arrive.
-
Just got confirmation that yet another SEATTLE area Bowhunter will be with us in JUNE 2009' Mike Blake !!
-
What bows & arrows are you Gangers planning on using for Bear Quest III ?
-
We were talking about using 1959 Bear Kodiaks. You know as her 50th birthday....bowdoc
-
I plan to bring an A&H ACS CX 62" 61#@28
Back-up will be a Selway 'Lil Shooter 58" two-piece, 61#@27
Arrows will be Arrow Dynamics Trad Lites with a four-blade Magnus 150...
Already started practicing 10yds sittin' on a 6' ladder...I'm pumped already, only 11 months...but who's counting, right? :bigsmyl:
Kevin
-
Tom, I'll be shooting the same rig this year as last- Style I B riser Bear T/D, #1 limbs-60" 68#s-I'm trying to shorten my draw length a tad and if I'm successful it'll be 66# this year. That inch or so of arrow length make a big difference in the noise departmen with a bowquiver. I'll be shooting Easton 2317 arrows with razorheads and bleeders- again. I may or may not bring a backup, probably just limbs cause of flying. GY
-
Fatman & grant the setups are more than sufficient !
Just recieved deposit from CADDO from Texas he is in for,Cool a new state represented at BQ III
2009'.
-
That will make 16 different states...purty cool.bowdoc
-
hey anyone want to car pool? I'll pay for half the gas. Mom doesn't want me driving all the way to Canada alone and made me ask. We could meet in Mass and leave one car there or if I'm on your way you can pick me up in Stamford CT. I know we still have along time before the hunt but its good to get all the details worked out now.
Also what type of taxidermy did you guys do with your bears? and if you dont mind me asking what did it cost?
-Scott
-
SCott,
I am planning that most of the guys will meet at my house and car pool from here unless guys a want to meet say in Greenfield,Ma etc.
I brought 5-6 Bears up to local full time taxidermist who is tanning some of the hides and making rugs with others.Prices start about $350.00 for tanned Bear Hide and half mounts $750.00 rugs run about $170.00 running foot. The quality is A-1.
-
Bretto and I will probably be flying in from Kansas City...Tom mentioned Albany as a possible airport to fly-in...are there some guys coming through? Looks like Boston is too far east....
-
We were going to carpool from my place....bowdoc
-
Boston isn't a bad connect as we cut diagonally across NH to the Canadian border. Albany is probably and little shorter but not much...Doc
-
Yeah, I know it's a ways off but I already talked to a couple of people to see if maybe we can't make that diagonal cut outta Boston/my house-a full truck is a full truck so I wouldn't feel guilty not going out to Tommy's first which I will gladly do if my vehicle is not PACKED. Hopefully gas won't be $10/gallon by then. Getting new ball joints today at 90K. These trucks take a beating!
Are you going both weeks Doc?
bowdoc, we got to head northwest from your place-I'll drive! :)
-
However we can make things work for car pooling is what we will do to make things work smooth and economical ! I just got another signed on for BQIII from NC <> Almost FULL boat for 2009'
-
I guess let me know who has room for two guys/gear and we can work out arrangements with them....damn, 11 months yet to go and I'm chompin' at the bit.....
-
Fatman- Albany is pretty convenient to use. I flew in there last year (out as well) and it was a snap to find Bowdoc waiting in the baggage area. It would have been easy to find Bowdoc in Manhattan though, lol. I was so pumped up I could have dealt with anyplace. I'm already fired up for next June. Look forward to meeting everyone.
Grant
-
I think I'll just jump on the old Delta-airlines again. That seems to work great for me..shortly after Linda(bowdoc)Ward drops Don(bowdoc)Ward's goat smellenoldass off at seatac airport...7-9 hrs later me and my favorite boy Tommy are hugging each other...well I don't mean hugging like that. You know what I mean...hugging like two dudes would....hummm I don't think I mean like that eather.....oh well, see ya'all soon..bowdoc
-
It's a pretty good haul for me to drive, but I'm considering it. If anyone wants to share the ride up, I'm game.
If I fly, I'll bring the Apache.
If I drive, I don't have a Kodiak but will a '59 Grizzly work?
LD
-
59' Griz will work fine !! YOu might be able to connect with a couple of the Southern Boys to hitch a ride !!
-
If anyone is going the second week from Ohio or will be driving thru Ohio let me know. We can share expenses for the drive.
-
Just shipped a bunch of Bear Meat stuff to some of the Bear Slayers this afternoon !! Needed to make room for some Venison I hope to store in there !! Maybe even a Fall Bear !
-
Good to know car pooling shouldn't be a problem and sounds like you guys gave a good taxidermist.
I might have missed this but where in Canada are we hunting?
-Scott
-
Diablo,I missed you this afternoon. But should be here all day tomorrow..............bowdoc
-

Thank RobT I will be on the lookout for deposit. Were do I MAIL list to you ? What address.
-

-
Kevin, now that Toms signed up We might as well drive. That way we'll know right were that ACS is at all times. Besides Tom will bring so many bows to shoot he'd have to pay that extra $50.00 baggage fee.LOL. Only 11 months to go I got to get a haircut. :biglaugh:
-
I will check out the spears, sounds like we are gonna have some fun....whooooohooooo....speardoc
-
My deposit is on its way!
I am going to have a great year! Hunting elk in September with friends, deer and hopefully predator hunting in the fall and winter, hog hunting with friends in February and bear hunting with friends in June! This is going to be a great year!
-
This is gonna get good.........bowdoc
-
I agree bowdoc, There are a lot of hunts I've wanted to go on with Bear being at the top of the list. To be able to go with a bunch of Tradgangers is going to make it unforgettable.
-
In the mail today. My year sounds a lot like Gatekeeper. Lotta stuff to hunt through to get to the bears, but we'll make it.
-
glad to see you signed up, Shaun...is that another State to add to the roster? :bigsmyl:
-
Thats great guy's we will have a blast....bowdoc
-
Could be a self bow or maybe my '55 Bear with some old greenheads up front. Sounds like there may be a Kadiak attack in the works. Guess I'll bring both to cover all bases.
-
There will be an assortment of bows for sure on stand and ones to play around with in camp !!!
-
1955 Kodiak with razorheads sounds real sweet....bowdoc
-
How many lefties are going to be in this camp. Hopefully I won’t be the only one.
-
Tom and I are lefty's
-
Us LEFTies must stick together !!
-
The '55 has a double shelf and I am left eye dominant - though I've shot righty all my life, I can shoot off the liberal side too. Don't hang all the stands on the wrong side of the tree.
-
"...I can shoot off the liberal side too."
that's funny right there... :biglaugh:
-
I will have stands set which ever direction you gents want !!
-
I just want mine in the direction of a bear!!
-

I did pick up one of those tree saddles, maybe I'll have Bowdoc teach me the "Tom Cruise"
-
How many people will we have in camp?
-
Jeez Joe! :( Am I a jinx do you think???
Every time I sign up for a hunt, you end up missing it. We're gonna have to meet up at some point, 'specially as we gonna be neighbours! You can't dodge me forever! :D :D
-
JC,
You will be there in Spirit !!! There will be
more than a dozen with Cook & Help in camp !!
-
JC forget about shooting those dumb old camels and roo's...we need you in La Tuque man....come on now.........bowdoc
-
Rob, no jinx brother, just the way the cards have fallen. We'll connect for sure, especially when we are neighbors...short trip then.
Thanks Tom, it's gonna just burn like fire to read the stories knowing I could have been there.
Bowdoc, with the way the economy is effecting my job right now, I may not be going anywhere in June...Australia or La Tuque.
-
Oh man brother I hear that...seems like prices are going up on everything we buy...keep us posted........bowdoc
-
Hi, It's sound like a great hunt.Is there room for 1 more, if so how much and where do I send the deposit?
Thank's Bearbow.
-
yap send the deposit to bowdoc inc.care of T.J.Mexico....just kidding of course...Tom will get back with you,but I believe there are a couple spots for the second week still open. But he will keep ya posted asap......bowdoc
-

Can't wait to here from Tom.
-
Hey Tom you in here....bowdoc
-
Just got word from the Mrs. that she might be making some Irish Bubble & Sweet for BQ III !!
-
Irish Bubble ????????? bowdoc
-
Whoa, Let's be up front about this. :scared:
I like to enjoy my bubbles with only select individuals!
:goldtooth:
And none of you are that "Select"! :biglaugh:
LD
-
I think it is bath soap, I hear by the second week some of you are pretty ripe!!
-
Yep by the 2nd week you don't need any stinkin' bait...just climbing in your stand should do it :D Doc
-
Are you guy's kidding me....I ai'nt taken no bubble bath....that stuff's for chicks....bowdoc
-
Irish Bubble 7 Sweet has nothing to do with Bubble baths !! It is a dish served in Ireland.
-
Oh, kinda like whiskey!
-
OHHHH! You mean Bubble & Squeak! Lovely :D
(seriously, Google it!)
-
Are we going to be hunting in Ireland on Q-3 ???????????? yaaaaahoooooooooooooo.....bowdoc
-
Bubble and squeak ??? Bowdoc never told me about barrel night!!!
-
I have a feeling there's more than a FEW things we haven't learned about Bowdoc yet..... :scared:  :bigsmyl:
-
I looked up Robs link on the bubble and squeak. I understand the squeak from the cabbage do You have to provide Your own bubbles. I prefer Barley Pop!!
-
Mornin Boys,
Just got off the phone with Bowdoc,we talked about a bunch of things including BQIII and new material for his comedy hours !!
NOTE: I have ONE opening left for 2nd week BQIII
after that there will be a waiting list.
Also I started mailing "LIST of THINGS to BRING" to those who sent deposit.
-

I picked up some sections from McKenzie targets that will work great for BQ III camp shooting.Maybe we can do some aerials this coming hunt.We did not get to do it this past June.
How many of you are hunting Bears this fall ??
-
Tom,
I may have the option to hunt black bear this fall in Idaho along with Chris Kinslow and Gary Norris. The primary animal to hunt will be elk but I bought a bear tag incase the opportunity comes up for a bear stalk. I have been told the huckleberries (spelling?) should be ripe during the time of the hunt. Hope to have a picture to show you.
Have you received my deposit?
Tom
-
I always carry a bear tag but ever since I started that I have only seen the south end of northbound ones,someday.... on a different note any knife crafters going week 2? I would like to talk to one. :campfire:
-
Oh yeah I've always got a bear tag....I never leave home without it....just in case. Were headed to the eastern slopes of the Cascades this thursday morning...for about a month.....yahoooooooooooooo.....sorry I lost my head for a second.....bowdoc
-
Good luck my friend and be careful! :wavey:

PIcked up some more stands for BQIII,I might have to try and get some Whitetail Bl...... on a couple of them before JUNE !!

Perfect for bear hunting bowdoc-you were already warming your feet on the head of that last bear!
-
O.K. let's hear some more Bear camp stories from You Vets.
-
I would love to share some bear camp stories, but I'am just finishing packing for elk hunting and won't be back for about 3-4 weeks.....we'll talk then...bowdoc
-
That's why I ran this back to the top bowdoc I thought You were already gone. Figured someone needed to keep it going while You were away.
Good Luck on Your hunt. Be safe and have a great time. bretto
-

-
He does not have a topnot!! I will see ya up at camp D. :campfire:

-
LOoking forward to a mess of Walleye being caught for BQIII and having a couple fish fries !!
-
I was thinking maybe we could catch some and tie them on a string with some cans on the other end like Fred used to do.
-
Mike,
When are you heading up to the Cascades with BowDOC ?
-
This needs to go back TTT. Got My list last week Tom. You stated a previous big game tag. Do You also need a Bowhunter Ed. Certificate?
-
We went up Elk hunting, saw lots of elk just didn't bring one home :banghead: , some real nice ones too. our camp also saw 6 bear and 1 cougar. :campfire: A real good time and looking forward to next season although I might stay on the wetside and go looking for 3pt or better or cow Roosevelt instead of spike or cow Rocky Mountain. I will see you in june for my bear.
-
Stiknstringer,
Glad to see you had fun.Waitin to talk to Bowdoc.
Get practicin close like 5 yards for the bears !!!
-
Bretto,
You do not need bowhunters cert. JUST old hunting license of some sort.
-
OK OK I'am back, actually I got back last week. But we had the bowdoc salmon derby last week.Fishing was great, but catching sucked.I broke my G.Loomis 13 ft.noodle rod last week too. That really sucked. But back from the mountians safe and sound.I lost 10 pounds and must have walked about 400 miles looking for those long legged goat smelling elk.I hate those stinking things.Well I only hate em now because I'am back home and they are all still roaming free as the wind.We had a blast seen plenty of game and even managed to scare the heck out of a couple critters.I also missed a give-me on a very nice cinnomon bear. The old bowdoc may have been suffering from a touch of the fever at that second. Not just one clean miss, but how about 4 in a row.Anyone ever hear of that ???? come on bear quest 3.....bowdoc
-
Bowdoc, If you lost 10#, you shouda just creeped up and counted coupe on that cinnamon barr. Shoot you can hardly even see ya 10# heavier :) Doc
-
It's because you couldn't warm your feet first on that bear's head like you did at The Bowl in QBII. That and the shot probably wasn't only what, 3 feet away like at QB?! :)
-
Bowdoc,
You lost 10 lbs ??? Comeon that means if you take off your Mr. T starter kit jewelry you weight less than a gunny sack full of spuds !!!
-
Yap lost about 10 pounds, standing sideways in the sunlight with my tongue sticking out,Linda said I look like a zipper.....bowdoc
-
I hate these stinking things........bowdoc (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/bull1.jpg)
-
Hey Dr Jeff Spring-a dore what week are you going to be in Quebec next spring ?? I would kind of like to kill a bear with the spear the second week !!!! yahooooooooooooo......bowdoc
-
You can be the spear if ya keep losin' weight bowdoc! We'd just need to sharpen your head a little. Don't worry, if we get a good pass-through, you'll still be able to cook dinner! :bigsmyl:
-
Tom : Could ya post a list of those going and first or second week ? Thanks Drew
-
When is the next deposit due?
How much do we have to pay?
-
I hate 'em too!!! (http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk245/stiknstringbow/chadscamera083.jpg) (http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk245/stiknstringbow/chadscamera077.jpg) I would like to thank Chad for the game cam pic's...Just to see what we didn't get to bring home! :banghead: :campfire: :archer:
-
(http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk245/stiknstringbow/054.jpg) One in the night, Oh well!! NEXT YEAR!!! anyhow enough about elk looking forward to BQIII and an almost bald, 3 legged bear at 5 yards!!
-
Mike stop putting pics of the elk we did not kill in here.Your makeing us look bad!!!!!!!!!I can't wait for Que'bec ........ bowdoc
-
That calf looks tasty. Bald three legged bear is mine, get back.
-
I'll bring some elk for you bowdoc.........
-
We already look bad!! :smileystooges: considering our area averages around 5% sucsess :campfire: . but I am done with elk for now, I was wandering around on the tree farm next door today and found some bear s*%t I think I will put my camera there to see if it comes back.It was full of corn with some apple seeds and blackberry. I also got some scouting to do local for late season.
-
Mike,
What setup will you be brining for BQIII ?
-
I haven't decided yet, I got more bows than I can shoot, but because of the tree stand thing probably one of my 52' Kodiak magnums 60# @ 28" with either compressed cedar or microfites, I got Bear razorheads on microflites and Grizzly on cedar, same story though, it all depends on what feels right when I start packing for trip, I will warm up shooting stumps while I look for turkeys in March, and (hopefully) get drawn for spring bear here in Washington.
-
 I also got some Grizzlysticks with Wensels on them that fly pretty good....I just cannot make up my mind. I will shred all my 3-D's and get back to you. :archer:
-
I'am bringing a spear next year....bowdoc
-
how about the blowgun?
-
Slingshot! :)
-
I am bringing a fishing rod, what # test should I use?
-
10# test should be fine unless you hook into a large Pike.Maybe a few steel leaders just incase.
-
Yes 10# test will work great...Orge email me.I need to send you a pic of Lon's buck......what a slammer.Tommy did you get the pic ?? bowdoc
-
I wont get a very big bear with 10# test. :archer:
-
do we need a fishing license?
-
Yes. Not too expensive though. If you tag out early you will likely want to do some fishing.
-
Well I came to a decition...there will be no Que'bec bear hunting with a spear for me.Sorry about that Doc hope you did not forge up the spear-head as yet. Here's the deal.Yesterday I left my shop door open to enjoy the fresh air.The old dude next door was cutting some ivy off our fences..Well this friggen rat runs out of the ivy and guess where he heads? Yap right into the bowdocs paint booth.I make a run at the little SOB and he darts under a pile of bow boxes. The worst part of the whole thing is our cat is out peddeling her butt up and down the street and not doing what I pay her for..Keeping rats out of my paint booth. So's I got me a walking stick,I added a nail to the end and use it for picking up trash out of the ditch in front of our place works great.OK so 20 minutes passes and I'am getting ready to head for home depot and get me a rat trap, maybe two of them. One for the rat and one for our cat for not being around. But the rat shows himself in front of the stack of boxes.OK back to spearing a bear.Ai'nt gonna happen. It took me 4 tries to finally hit this damn rat.So I figured if it takes ya 4 tries with a spear at a bear you may end up getting yourself injured...so I'am out for the spear hunting of bears Doc,but thanks just the same for the offer...bowdoc . (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/st001.jpg)
-
bowdoc (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/st003.jpg)
-
bear spear. (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/st002.jpg)
-
ai'nt gonna happen dudes.............bd
-
Bowdoc, I can see You and I are gonna have some fun in June!! bretto
-
Bowdoc A bear is a bigger target.Kip
-
Oh yeah bretto it's always a super fun time at Pourvoirie Rothman La Tuque with Tom and friends. There's always plenty going on from bear baiting to washing dishes and everything inbetween... Hey BBassi I may have forgotten to mention to you that I broke your french coffee press you were so kind to leave behind for us to use remember the really nice working one you had ?? .So you may want to purchase a new one.If you buy a new one and bring it along next spring I won't pay you back for it....thanks bd
-
Hey, You can't just write "Rat - heart hit" on a stick and expect us to believe it. :readit: Where's the picture of the rat? :saywhat:
Kip's right too. Bears are lots bigger. You won't need more than two stabs at one of them buggers. I know you're quick Bowdoc - you can do it! :D
-
Whip- Don is about a buck ten in fighting condition. Hes already pushing the envelope with those eight foot shots out of four feet high stands. If something happens to him and my old junk bows at the same time I gotta retire. Please don't encourage him toward risky behavior. Sincerely, Grant Young
-
Dang Bowdoc, My spear head will be considerable Bigger than a ten penny nail. Just start liftin' some weights this winter and you'll be ready to go :) Doc
-
hey whipkster (thats short for whip and kip)here's a pic of his goat smellen dead little azz.I was gonna bury him in the garden but figured I would leave him out by the door as warning to other rats to stay out of the bd's paint shop. But again I really don't think spearing the bear is gonna work out to good...you know even that darn rat was like jumping around after I stuck him with the spear,he slipped off the nail.Man you better hope that the bear slips off that nail too woooooow holding on to him could lead to unsafe conditions and or enjury..bd (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/rat002.jpg)
-
by the way what looks the be a post-it sized paper that says R.I.P ? well thats really the phone book and not a small little post-it as he was huge and a P&Y rat for sure....what a slammer he was.Doc aka Jeffie you know I love you like one of my own kidds brother I truely do,but I don't know man.I'am getting a little weird feeling about this. What if I miss with the first poke.Shoot dude that could cause some problemo's.........bowdoc
-
Look at the tail on that critter! But his ears do look big, I thought you were supposed to wait for one that has small looking ears or comes up to the second ring on the 55 gal barrel.
-
On rats it's the handle of the gallon milk jug Shaun. :D
-
Got over your fear of deermice D.? You should skin that thing out and make a knife sheath out of it.
-
Ok I gave up on the spear deal mostly because I was thinking about Doc laughing his azz off telling the story of how I was so fool-hearty as to try to stick a bear with a spear...yeah I can see that happening after the rat deal....but I did come up with a new idea of hunting bears for those of use, well lets just say who fear's no bear !! now Doc what do you say you give the bowdoc's head a try next spring..........bd (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/sr002.jpg)
-
:notworthy: :notworthy:
Brilliant!
I am so looking forward to spending some time with y'all, come June!
-
Is Tom out hunting?....I left him a message a few days ago and haven't heard back from him yet.
-
He may have been working the last several days.Pending what time he gets home...weather he will call back or not...bd
-
Rob, are You going the second week?
-
Yep, second week fer me. Them guys in the first week should have 'em well patterned & the stands well placed for us ;) It's nice to know that they'll be doing all the hard work :D
-
That's kinda what I thought. They should have all the little one's thinned out. LOL
Looking forward to meeting You. I bet we're going to have a great time!!
-
Dang , I'm going to be in good company :0)
-
I think I got just what you need to fill that little dart up. Use a little cat tranquilizer to give you a few extra seconds to pull your spear out :) Doc
-
We'll leave you the pushed off little ones Robtattoo! :bigsmyl: (Actually I wish you were going the first week with the other cool kids-you seem like a fun guy to hunt with)! Seriously, both weeks are chalk full with great guys!
Doc, I think you need a little of that tranquilizer to slow Tommy down to normal speed! :biglaugh:
-
Yeah I think the darts going to work fine.I been particeing at 7 ft.....Hey I will getta hang out both weeks again and spend a little time wit all my new friends.............this is gonna get good.......bowdoc
-
Hey Tom, I got my list today, thank you. I probably wont bring the earplugs though, I am one of the snorers and Don would probably stick them in my nose.
-
Shoot guy's the dart deal may not work at all eather...dang-it.....I figured I would give it a try this morning. So's I was thinking Mrs bowdoc may react somewhat like a small bear if I were to just kind of give her a little poke in the butt with the dart tip when she bent over this A.M.to see if it would need to be sharpend,ya know.I'am pretty sure I do not want a full grown bear acting like my old lady did this morning in a small area.Holy balls that was not that funny, well it is now. Was'nt then....I gotta come up with something that's not going to keep inflecting more injury on me then the bear. This just ai'nt working.....bowdoc
-
Bowdoc you lived through it sounds like a successful test to me.
-
Man Bowdoc, you sure like to live life on the edge don't you? :scared: It wold have been a lot safer to do your Bowdoc Pod field tests on live bears. What were you thinking? :knothead:
-
Wow Whip I think your right. She's still a little ticked off at me about that.I just called her at work to see how her day was going.I may reserve the testing for actuall bears. You know thats only gonna hurt me while you guy's are laughing at me in Que'bec for screaming while Doc is sewing me up...Mrs bowdoc said this one may inflect pain on me for year to come. Not sure how thats gonna work,I did not get stuck in the butt with a dart..my butt's fine....bowdoc
-
bowdoc you are just TOO funny! :biglaugh:
-
Hey Steve if I could make you guy's laugh with just a little light hearted fun at Mrs bowdoc expense....ya right are you guy's kidding me ? If I stuck my wife in the azz with that feather fletched dart...Doc Jeff would be doing more then stitching me up.It would be more like he would be doing open heart surgary, but from the other end....ya then one of you guy's will have to get rid of that stinkie old dart after the fact..Hey really guy's I can't hardly wait to get back to Que'bec hanging out and hugging on you dudes.....You know I love ya'all like one of my own....bowdoc
-
don't miss the fun sign up soon as possible...bowdoc
-
I had to back out for family reasons :banghead: , Have fun everybody!!! :campfire: I'll go next year. BQIV :archer:
-
Anybody fill my spot yet? :smileystooges:
