Title: HELP?
Post by: J-dog on July 13, 2008, 07:07:00 PM
OK I have got bare shafts grouping with my fletched shafts. But what is it when the nock is hitting to the left? or you can tell it has come in on a left angle, like paper tuning?

basically my bare shafts are coming downrange with the nock off to the left. Is that too much point weight? or too little?

55#@27" Schafer Silvertip, axis 400 28.5" long. 300 grains up front when I got this info.

If the point is right and the nock is left your shaft is under spine. You need to go to higher spine shaft or cut your shaft down 1/2" or remove some point weight.

Yeah, I dropped the point weight by 100 grains and they straightened up. Still need to work on the nock point a little as they are still point low nock high, but straight up and down.

Will take some time to work them out,

A little nock high is what you want for bare shafting if they are hitting with your fletched shafts, least that is what I understand.

Thanks, yall

I shot today with bare shaft and flecthed the bare shaft shot best with 125 grain head and the regular insert fot HIT arrows? was wanting to put 225 up front, 125 grain head with 100 grain brass insert.

My bare shafts hit still a little nock high straight up and down, the fletched arrows went in like a ball going to target, no kick in flight and straight as an arrow!! (pun, yes)

Still gonna play around a bit since I have time, I know I kicked a couple bare shafts nock left piont right, and I seen them kick like that in flight, BUT I believe that had more to do with my release not being the best today, still the fletched flew good.

Worked out all afternoon at the firehouse and was not in the best of form due to fatigued muscles before I started shooting! not a good scenario I know but I like ot shoot.

Thanks agian for the replies, need all the help I can get.
