Title: new shooter - new limbs
Post by: chinook907 on July 10, 2008, 09:06:00 PM
Got my 1st recurve this winter, a PSAX in osage, 45#.  Can shoot decent now, so ordered & just received heavier limbs, 60# @ my draw.  While stringing for first time and first few shots there were a few creaks/pings from the limbs, is that normal ?  Shoots great BTW, really hits with authority.

Did you get a new string as well?  May be wax pulling away from the limb tips as you reach full draw.  Also, because it's heavier, the limbs may just be compressing whatever material is between the limb and riser bases.  Sometimes they just need to settle in a bit.  Also, might want to lubricate the alignment posts with wax or something like that.

It was only for the first few shots, no extra noise during draw after that.
