Title: question I thought I already knew the answer to
Post by: TroyH on July 08, 2008, 02:11:00 PM
Ok, here's a question I thought I knew the answer to.
When measuring draw weight @ X inches on a bow, do you measure from belly or back?
I always thought belly, but my Grizzly recurve says 50#@28, but when I put it on my scale, I reach 50# when the measurement is 28" from the back.
And the correct answer is..........?

AMO is deepest part of the grip + 1 3/4".  Frequently this works out to be same as if you measure to the back of the bow.

I've always gone to the back of the bow. Black Widow also uses that system. I only heard about the AMO standard a couple of years ago.
