When you order a bow what limb core and why???
Bamboo because Howard Hill liked it. :-D
Bamboo, feels smooth on the draw and is definitely quick.
Yew from what I have been hearing lately about it.
Actionboo, I voted "Other" as I see it as being distinctly separate from Bamboo.
Bill
Bob's foam cores first, then bamboo. Tge
Bamboo - adds spring to the limbs and is fast.

I just ordered a Yew limb bow. I want to see if it is all it is said to be.
My experience with foam core limbs puts them at the top of the list. However, most US bowyers don't make such limbs so if I were ordering an all wood bow I would want bamboo and carbon in the limbs.
My first choice is BOO Dean with actionwood or maple a close second/third.
I have a longbow i just picked up last week with Black Walnut libs, thats a smoker. Its my first and last bow i'll ever need.
I hope i don't buy anymore....I don't need them.
I usually go with what the bowyer thinks is giving him the best results. Sort of like a knife maker has his favorite steel, he knows how to work it and get he most out of it.
Same materials may yeild a different result in someone elses hands.
Eric
Pretty much foam only.

After recently buying some of Bob Morrison's foam core limbs and shooting them, I don't think the foam can be beat. That said, there are many great bows out there with wood core limbs that are outstanding. I subscribe to the idea expressed above that a great bowyer knows best what will work in his bow design and he should be given the liberty of suggesting the material he thinks is best. Who is going to criticize Bill Howland, Ron LaClaire, Norm Johnson or one of the other greats because they don't use foam cores like Bob Morrison? Not me.
Don't know Why I picked BOO. It just sounds smoother :biglaugh: That being said me and a friend ordered the same bows a year ago, he got
boo and Because I didn't want the Same bow, I got
yew. Other than mine being 7 pds more in weight, I don't feel any difference in smoothnes.
ACTIONWOOD!!!!!!!!!!
My Mikuta longbow is made entirely with actionwood (and glass of coarse)
It's virturaly "Bomb Proof"
Bamboo, or action boo, seems to give me the best results of all the core materials I've tried. I've never had the ability to try a foam core in my bows but everyone I've talked to has nothing but good things to say about it. I shot a DAS at Compton and it was pretty smooth, but that's my only foam experience.
