Personally I just throw a little face paint on and go huntin, What do u guys prefer, Do u think deer can see ur face without paint or mask? Iv had deer walk 8 yards in front of me on the ground and not notice me with face paint on.
burnt cork
Paint if it's warm and I don't have work to attend that day...otherwise, I reach for a mask...
Burnt cork, hands down....
I usually use a mesh face. The kind with leafs attached to it. I only hunt from the ground any more, and usually for squirrel/deer. I think the "leafy" type mask helps break up my head and shoulder out line.
Face paint.
Paint or cork, mask doesn't give me the feel of anchor cleanly enough.
I use paint, I've had masks interfere with the string on occasion.

Yup.. what Tom said. I prefer Face Paint though.
On a related subject - what do you do to hide your hands - especially when it is warm?
There is two things the deer in my neck of the woods pick up on as far as sight, #1 is movement, #2 is shine. My nephew has some western sage looking camo and a guille top the kind made for prone shooting. we were out in the sandhills of nebraska and from close two 2 miles away I could pick him out and I,m a human with only one eye that is good. He stuck out like a neon sign. Use what ever is avalible, some camo paints have shine some don,t, cork is good and so is mud if avalible, and any clothes that don,t shine. Big ol mulies might not be the sharpest but they didn,t get big by being stupid and they can see very well.
I use burnt cork as well  :clapper:
face paint
I use a spandex camo face mask mostly, with just eye holes cut.It fits tight enough I can always feel my anchor with it.The rest of the time dull face paint but,I don't hunt without something covering my face. Ben
burnt cork, just cant shoot right with a face mask
Face paint, but after that is used up I'm going to try burnt cork.
Been using burnt cork for at least 20 years...see no reason to use anything else.
OK All, I'm going to sound stupid here. How do you do the "Burnt Cork"? Do you just burn a cork and use the ash or the charred part of the cork?
Thanks!
Fuzzy
Got busted by a little sixer this past year due to my face shinin in the bushes. Had forgot mask in truck not in pack. Will rub down with dirt if need be in that situation again! Interested in the cork thing.
I take the burnt cork is just as it sounds, burn the cork then rub burnt end on face/hands. Where do yall ge the cork? hate to smell like a winery if the man showed up!
Yes Sir, I promise I was deer hunting not drinkin'.
Later

Mesh head/face net and paint on my nose and under Eyes.
camo netting
Face paint early and sometimes a mesh mask if the skeets are still bad. Paint and mask in cold weather. I like to make sure nothing is exposed. I even put a couple dots on my eyes lids so if I blink or squint, that part is covered.
Yep, just burn the end of the cork. Wait a minute for it to cool, then rub the burnt end on your face.
Wine corks work great.
A spandex face mask with the eye holes cut into it.
Always a face mask. I wear a full beard that has turned white over the years. I don't think paint would work on it, and I don't want to dye it.
Richard
burnt cork only way to go.
Sometimes I go without, but I usually wear a Spandoflage headnet with a single hole for my glasses. Sometimes I just let my graying beard and hat brim shadow do the task.
I would warn you to be careful using mud. You have no idea what is in it. Mud is full of stuff that can make you sick if you have it sitting on your face.
"mesh face" Never heard of it. Where'd ya find'm?
None, never had a problem
Beard.
Does anyone think the deer can pick up the color of ur face as opposed to greens and browns as they see everyday, thats just what i figured anyway. And has anyone used one of those thick cold season face masks i tried it when it gets super cold, but i feel sort of uncomfortable cuz like a few guys said i cant really feel the anchor when I draw.
Those who wear spectacles and are concerned about glare off lenses alerting animals, how do you prevent this?
spandoflage
Camo Face paint and sometimes burnt cork.
does just any old cork work?
i've used mud, paint and masks. even the sticks from last nite's campfire...
I use what ever I find burnt in the woods
NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! :bigsmyl:
(I've got an ugly old mug that looks like a rock anyway)
Naphtali, I switched from glasses to contacts solely for the purpose of hunting. I was tired of them fogging up and slipping down my nose in hot weather.
I use a primos face mask that is tight against my face like the spandoflauge ones are. In some places that I hunt, I am hiding from other hunters as much as hiding from the deer. That means gloves and face covering. Have you ever watched another hunter across a field? You can see movement from a mile away, but it seems like you can see movement of uncovered hands and face about 10 times that far.
Best corks I've found come in Champagne or Spumanti bottles. They seem to black up nicer, and last longer.
