When I got back into trad after about 10 years out of it, the first bow I bought was a Bear Montana. I have to say for the money they are hard to beat. I shot my first robin hood with it. It was a very consistant bow. Very easy to shoot and tough as nails! I might get another one some day.     Just my two cents.

Nice too hear. I made the switch from recurve to longbow about five years ago. I bought my Montana from a friend's shop and loved it. I've tried some others and still preferr my Montana.

its a good example. a bear montana supreme or whatever its called with some pretty cheap "exotic" woods. I think its zebra and walnut or something. I don't remember but its nothing mind boggling and they want 6 or 8 hundred dollars for it I think. No performance changes I don't think. I'm pretty sure its still a tri lam maple.

It's one of those things that you got the basic model and anything else is just for show.

I got a Montana when I returned to archery after a few year layoff. A lot of bow for the money, but feels kind of clubby when I compare it to my current favorites, a Northern Mist Baraga and a Classic Bowhunting selfbow. It certainly will get the job done, however.

I like the design so much I used it for a pattern for making some glass bows. The Montana is a very mild R/D design with some string follow. Easy to shoot if not real fast. The Montana is a bit clunky in handle shape and tip size, but very functional and a bargain price.

if you modify the grip (on older ones) and the limb tips you will notice gains in performance and shootability,  i kind of wish i had a montana right now.  They can take a lickin
