Title: Can you name this new EFA bowquiver?
Post by: 2fletch on July 03, 2008, 08:36:00 PM
To celebrate the 4th of July I thought it would be appropriate to have a contest to guess the name of our new and exciting quiver. The winner (if there is one) will have to guess the name that has already been given the quiver. The only clue will be that it is just one word. The rule is that you only have three guesses. The first one to get it right, with the right spellling, will win the quiver of their choice.

This is a one piece quiver that we have been working with for a long time. Several people have made suggestions and contributions on how it could be done, and we are indebted to them. The requirements were that it had to be rock solid, easily removed or attached, could easily be used with a cord or strap to hang on a limb or over the shoulder, and most importantly would not affect how the bow would shoot. Well we finally got it and it works great.

Now I'll try to post some photos to show what it's all about. The lighting was a little iffy so all of them are not as clear as I'd like. Please feel free to give your opinion. Good Luck!

Title: Re: Can you name this new EFA bowquiver?

Roadkill, the snake we use is western diamondback rattlesnake. The watersnake that you mention would probably work very well, but I don't know a source.

When I was a teenager in Indiana I was down in the Wabash valley frog hunting with a couple of buddies.  We were in the middle of a small pool of water that had survived a dry summer when all at once I spotted about 15 snakes in the pool. When I announced the situation the water boiled with 3 guys getting out in a rush. Normally I'm not afraid of snakes, but when the rush started I didn't want to be last. (Mind you I wasn't afraid, I just didn't want to be last.) There were probably between 30 and 40 snakes in that pool which was only about 10' X 20'. Guess it was the dry weather.

Wow! There have been some good names suggested so far. If it weren't already named I think that we would adopt one of them.

After several inquired, I decided to go ahead and list some of the quivers for sale on the "Sponsors Classified". I just put them up about 10 minutes ago. There is a total of seven listed but we have more of them. As is our policy Tradgangers get a discount. Thanks.

One of the things that I forgot to mention was that these quivers are still fastened to the bow at the fadeouts. The base length is about 16 inches. For longer risers an extension is used. We have those in 2 and 4 inch lengths.

We will end the contest tomorrow (Sunday) night at about 10:00 pm. Don't miss a chance to win a nice and very new quiver. Even if you guessed 3 times, you're eligible to guess again.

Very cool quiver,I luv them and own two.....but if I could add my two cents(which doesn't mean anything    :knothead: )  .....I don't think the camo shaft fits with the distinctive beauty of your quivers bud....maybe black or something woodgrain would look better...JMHO

Well, I can't believe all of the names, and a lot of them are great. If it weren't already named I think that we may have adopted one of them.

It's the last day of competition (10:00 pm EST)to guess the name of this latest quiver. The name was suggested by a friend who was instrumental in the design of the quiver. He gets the first "_ _ _ _ _" quiver. This is your chance to win this first one advertised.

Last clue: It is named after an object (or objects) that were man made by certain tribes.

Good luck!

Killie has the rights to it...but...
       "tot-em pole"
is where i'd go with the name..
'course being that you put 5 spaces in your hint...
'totem'
I'd agree with Guru, maybe a GT trad or some wood grain carbon shaft..??..or heck just a wooden dowel(stainable, by the owner)

Looks like we have a winner, but has anyone known Killdeer to hold back so long? Not only did she get it but she got it with one guess. Congratulations Killdeer, I'm impressed. Of all of the great names suggested, you picked the winner.

Killdeer,if you are going to be at ATAR this coming weekend, then come by the "Eagle's Flight Archery" booth to pick your quiver. We will be either on the back of the pavilion or inside.

Thanks to everyone who participated and I hope that you had fun. Anyone who contributed by suggesting a name qualifies for a discount of $10.00 for any of these quivers that were shown. This is good through the end of July. They are currently listed in the "Sponsor Classified" section.

Guru and Billy, we did try a woodgrain shaft on the first quiver, but the camo shaft seemed to blend better. I also considered a wood dowel but didn't see an easy way to anchor it at both ends.

The graphite shaft has a stainless steel machine screw anchoring it at each end. At the hood end the screw is molded into a plate at the top of the hood. This is sturdier than anything we could come up with using a wood shaft. Also, to add an extension to the system for longer risers is very quick and can be done usually without handtools.

Thanks for the suggestions, we may have to offer these with either camo or woodgrain.

Hey Dave, did you notice that one of the photos has this "Totem" quiver on a Beeler bow? It works really well on that bow (which is my personal bow for now).

I have a personal creed of "one wife but lots of bows". Right now the Beeler is my companion, but there are several guys who have shot it and want to own it. If I stay true to the creed then I'll probably be needing another one soon. I love the way it feels in hand, how still it is, and how it shoots where it is pointed.  And yes, with the "Totem" quiver on the bow, it still shoots the same.
