Title: Ramhorn by Jim Reynolds (Thunderstick). Any pics???
Post by: skychief on July 02, 2008, 10:07:00 PM
I may be buying one of these bows (Ramhorn) made by Mr. Reynolds.   Does anybody have a picture of one they will share?   Thanks much.  Skychief.

Skychief,  I have two Ramhorns, they are both 54".  One draws 58#@28", and is my elk hunting bow.  I have taken 5 bulls with it and several bucks.  The other one is 53#@28" and it has taken innumerable foam animals.  The Ramhorn has alot of preload and the recurve opens fully at my 29" draw.  The draw is so smooth that it gives you the sense of letoff when you get near full draw.  I will try and get you pics later today.

Thanks a bunch 4Blade!   I would love to see your pics.   When were your bows made?   I am going to look this bow over in a few hours from now and am anxious to say the least.   Thanks again and I am looking forward to your pics!

Great bows. I have a 50# and a 60# custom and one of  his take down Ramhorns 53#. Jim no longer builds these bows as he has a full plate making longbows and recurves are a more work. He will build one if you beg, but its humiliating to grovel. If you have a chance to pick up a used one go for it.

Skychief. As the others have already said Jim builds an outstanding bow. My Ramhorn takedown is the one bow that will never get away. Very quick and easy to shoot. i don't think you would be disappointed in one of Mr Reynolds' bows. sorry no pics to let you drool over. Good shooting. dcl.

Hope that link works.  The brown bow is cocobolo and action wood, built in 98.  The dark gray bow is all action wood built 2003.  They are work horses.

Had the 54 incher. It was very good shooting for me and i drew it 30 inches.I would like to try the 58 or 60.The 3 piece he no longer builds was a very good shooter and cool looking.I shot one of the 1st ones he built quite a few yearsback at cloverdale. Then shot another at Comptons last year a man had that was kind enough to let me shoot it a bit.
