Title: Feather ?s
Post by: Bakes168 on July 01, 2008, 06:38:00 PM
I have a few questions regarding feathers and fletching them...

1. How many feathers should you glue on for a flu-flu? Does it matter if they're left/right wing?

2. Does anyone have any way to effectively dye feathers without ordering powder or anything?

Please Help!!!

Thanks

I use 4 on a flu-flu. They can be left wing or right wing, just make sure all are the same on each arrow. Kool-aid with a teaspoon or so of vinigar works ok  to dye with (old fly tying trick).

I'll stand by the advice for the Kool-Aid...and excellent and inexpensive dye.
I use 6 for a flu-flu, but I could just as easily use 4...

I use a single full length feather spiraled around the shaft for flu flus. This type of flu flu will stop the arrow quicker than other types I have tried. Flies good for about 25 yds.  Pat
