It doesn't take much, just a good spot close to the ground.

The hardest thing about hunting from the ground.....is SHOOTING from the ground!!!!!
Practice shooting.....sitting on a bucket, sitting on a low stool, sitting on the ground, kneeling on one knee(left AND right)and kneeling on both knees. Also, practice shooting from odd/twisted positions.
It's actualy FUN!!!!! Practice,Practice,Practice.....Then let the Ground be your Guide!!!!! :archer:
Good Luck!!!!!
amen!! i always shoot high.what i use to do is get some camo net at wal-mart and find a place and put it across and mark a 2 by 2 square and take it down and cut it out,put some brush behind you. had deer 10 feet from me ,then my back started messen up and got a nice ground blind ,that way i can move around.
Yep I agree with John!!! He does miss high :knothead: But, this year he won't miss 'cause he is going to practice more sitting down :bigsmyl:
how do you get the deer to stop and take pictures of your setup like that?
:bigsmyl:
Sometimes I get in a hollow round hay bale I make. Works great. You can see one made in the dvd lettin loose a season with a longbow. Alos I carry square fence wire with grass through it and set it in front of me.

Kasey,
Sorry no pics, but i always try to build an "A-Frame" blind BEHIND me. similar to the third pic of Deadsmple"s photos.
I had a yearling button buck approach to within 5 feet of me a couple of years ago with that set-up.
I had on blue jeans and a tan jacket.
I know he was young and dumb and I had the wind in my favor, but the background broke up my profile.
He looked at me for several minutes and kept easing closer with his head outstreatched and sniffng. I was frozen and when he got so close, I culdn't contain myself and started to laugh, I couldn't keep it in anymore. He jumped at least 3 feet in the air and switched directions and hauled a**.
I am a firm believer in breaking up your outline behind as much as hiding it from in front. Now besides using natural material behind me I also use a couple of pieces of military surplus camo netting in front of me just to be sure,
John
Is there any more examples out there? Would like to see more pics.ttt
Hope I'm not hijacking the thread but if anybody is from the high desert areas w/pics of their ground blinds, please also post. Newbie after muleys this year.
Quinn
Muted patterns and a little background cover goes a long way. Good face camo is never more important than when hunting from ground level.
