Just made these lams for a fellow,I think they'll look super in a bow or two !!
:knothead:
Very nice Kenny. What I enjoy is the fact you get so excited about what you make. It's like you are getting them yourself. It's also why I've heard so many good things about your service and product. Great job!
Galen,I love seeing the grain when I cut open a board!! Its an addiction, just like the rest of this journey!!
I think they look great...do the knots make any difference? I was a bit leery when I was looking for wood for a new bow, they had some cedar at the store when I bought some Marblewood this weekend; I'm hoping to have a bow made out of.
I've seen a few bows made with Cedar lams and they look great, plus it has to smell nice when you're making them.
Josh
Josh,I've built 2 bows with cedar, both with red elm core and cedar veneers. No problems yet,1 has knots, the other doesn't. I did have a bowyer that I sold some to tell me he loves the way it shoots.
Man, you are getting me all worked up Kenny!
Kenny that's some sweet looking cedar. Knots are the only way to go.
Nice stuff Kenny, I built a couple of bows with bamboo cores and that Red cedar under glass and they were real shooters!
Man oh man Kenny, awesome! Boy oh boy they would look great on a longbow with a cocoabolla riser, osage flare.BOO cores of course. Nice!
WOW! :bigsmyl:
Cedar lams look great under glass, not too bad bamboo backed either ;)
I've got a pile of it in the shop!
Marty,Im about to get on your order,is that the kind of stuff you want? Knotty or not?
I like the stuff on the left the best. The white streaks are really cool.
kenny....ive got a treadway being built this fall...ive been toying with a couple limb woods...you just made up my mind!!!! you have anymore of that knotty stuff available?
Dano, do you mean bamboo on a juniper stave? I've thought about trying this. I think I have a board that might be clean enough to try. The boo wouldn't overpower the cedar would it?
Kenny, what do you think about putting glass on as a backing only like you would bamboo? I haven't heard of anyone doing this. But they probably have.
Marty,good deal,I'll see what I can do,sent ya an email,bro!
Steve,I've got lots and can get more!!LOL
Bona, I'm not much of a selfbow guy,but I'd feel better with glass on both sides, but thats just me.I'd have the same ? about the glass overpowering the cedar.
Kenny, I travel to Missouri quite a bit for work. I might send a e-mail to you the next time I am over and see if I can stop by. Flint
Sure thing Flint. If I'm not workin my real job or farmin or huntin ,I'll be in the shop!! LOL Really, drop by!
