Ok folks here we go. About 2 months ago my buddy Rob Hilt got a call from JD and was told that there was a weight mistake with his bow. No big deal it happens. Well JD felt terrible so he sent Rob this brand new RH 43@28 58" longbow in it's place until his was done. Woods are Bacote limbs and Zebrawood riser. Beautiful! Great guy huh. Well he also told Rob that because this was a mistake of his he could just keep the bow. Yea you heard it right, he told him to keep the bow and do what he wanted to with it. And he was still making Rob the bow he ordered! He told him to sell it, keep it, or give it away. Thats the kind of service JD Lund offers. Now mind you my buddy Rob is going through some tough times right now and he could really use the money. But not Rob, he feels there is someone else out there in worse shape than he so he asked me to take care of this for him. (not to mention he can't afford a computer right now). Which brings me to this post. If there is someone who can't afford a new custom bow and may be down on his/her luck, or a kid needing a new bow, then this could be your lucky week. I will draw a name later this week and the lucky winner will get a $650.00(I think thats close) two month old custom longbow. Yes folks, this is free. So if you fit the criteria please sign up.
This goes to show what good people are out there. JD and Rob deserve a hand! :clapper:
One condition from me, please keep Rob in your thoughts and prayers while he goes through this tough time in his life. He's a good father and a good friend of Longbowben and myself. As you can tell he's also a good person. So sign up all!!!

i can say with honesty that JD is a great guy to work with.... when i ordered a bow from him he bent over backwards to make everything perfect and on time. cant say enough about J.D.'s customer service. #1

wow what a great guy!! my buddy owns one a lefty and he loves it...i myself am not in the need for oen i have several custom bows but my friend sure could useit.
he is in a pretty big bind with money now and i just bought him a compound a few months ago but has mastered it and isn't allowed at our trad only shoots. he wants to come but can't afford a trad bow right now so ill throw his name in the bag and hope he wins! would be awsome to have him in the field with us! if he wins ill gear him up with everything he would need from a quiver, glove/tab, arrows, arm guard etc. he just needs the stick and string!

I am shooting two of his bows and love them both. JD lives relatively close to me and made every effort to always be available. Those curves are sweet.

I would love to get that bow for my wife, Myra, she shoots a compound and wants to get into trad bows, but she would never spend the money on one herself. She would rather make sure the family is taken care of. All her sacrifices for our family and her unselfish character are reasons that I think she is deserving of a bow like this one.

My friend Dave lost all his hunting things in a fire 3 years ago, he also lost a little baby 2 years ago. He and his wife do not have alot of extra $$$$. He would love it so much. I gave him and old BEAR i have and he loves shooting but it doesn't fit him at all. So on my behalf please enter him in the drawing. Ok folks here we go. This has been an exciting evening to say the least. I don't really know where to start. I'll start by saying the good Lord works in funny ways. Today he worked through JD Lund.
OK, Rob has been really busy handling family issues so he asked me to take care of the drawing. No problem so I thought. I get home from work and get my 12 year old daughter to draw out of a hat. She selected :DBERRARD(14462) Who entered on behalf of his dad. I promised that I would not disclose anyones personal stories and I won't. I'll just say that Daves dad is well deserving of this bow. And we all need to take our hats off to Dave as well, he did something pretty amazing for his dad. I can't wait to shake the hand and meet Dave, he's a hero in my book.
So great, we have a winner. Not so fast. I received a message from Dave that I missed and it made my heart sink. Dave didn't notice the bow we were giving away was Right handed. Even though his dad is right handed he shoots bow left handed. Now I'm really bummed. I'll be back.
Sorry, I'm back. Needed a beer for this next part.So Dave asks me to respectfully pull his name from the hat. (My face started that leaking thing again)So I call Rob to tell him the news. Then he lets out a whopping "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME". I said what the heck are you so happy about, I feel terrible. He told me something and I let out a OOOOOOOOORRRRRAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! So I hang up and immediately call JD Lund.
When JD made Robs bow he made one identical to it with the wood he had left over. Guess what, it's LEFT handed. JD goes on to tell me that he was talking to Rob earlier(before the drawing). Rob told him what we were doing with the bow he gave him and JD said, " Well i have the lefty version, give it away too".Rob said are you serious? JD said heck ya, we should give one away for each hand. Like I said, the lord works in strange ways. I am truly blessed to have friends like Rob and JD.
So Dave, congratulations on the bow for your dad. I only wish others new the sacrafice you gave and what your dad went through. Enjoy, and send us some pics.I sent you a PM for your info.
So now I have the opportunity to draw another name! I'm excited all over again. So the winner of the RIGHT hand Whisperstik is HOFFMAN(6301) for his friend that lost everything in a fire. He also had lost a small child a few years back. He posted all this on the thread. So now maybe we can put a little smile on his face. Folks I can't tell you how wonderful this has all been. Rob and JD are cut from the same mold. I've had so many PM the last couple of days and have shed more tears than you could imagine after some of the tragedy's people have shared with me. So everyone go and hug a family member because today is only here for a short while and we don't know what tomorrow might bring. I only wish I had 50 bows to give away to everyone who entered. Just to let you know how great this is. 2 years ago tommorow he lost his little girl. I called him just a few moments ago and he is just so happy. He is so excited about getting and shooting the bow. We have been friends for so long and we have always been there for each other. I myself can't wait to shoot with my best friend again.

I should no longer be surprised when I see things like this here. This is a truly great community of people. Leatherneck, tell your friend Rob that what goes around comes around, and he has built himself up some serious juju by doing something so thoughtful when he is going through a trying time himself. If nothing else, he has the respect of a total stranger, for what it's worth.
Although I was not involved in this at all, tell him thank you for me. Such unselfishness is far too rare these days.
These are great stories, and I KNEW I was buying my custom bow from the right guy in JD LUND! You can tell alot just by talking to someone, and I just had a good feeling.
