Title: shaft question
Post by: darb on June 29, 2008, 07:33:00 PM
I have been shooting a 27" 2016 with a 145 out of my longbow which is 54# at my draw length.

I wanted to move up to a 150 gr grizzly w/ a 100 adapter to increase my overall arrow weight.  This obviously makes the 2016's I was shooting to weak of a spine.  I was wondering whether anyone knew whether a 2018 should be stiff enough for 250 gr up front.

thanks in advance

For aluminum arrows I like to stay in the 10-12% FOC for good arrow flight, and 250 grs. up front will put you way over that. Now for carbons they seem to handle higher FOC then other types of arrows.A 2018 with a 150 gr. head will put you close to 550 grs.JMO
