ok im shooting gold tip 35/55 28in 125grain head.what i am trying to find out is how many grains is this arrow alltogether.im shooting a fedora 560 t/d hunter 51@28
Gold Tip used to have a calculator right on their site, you might google tham and check it out.
ok i don't know why i said 28 in arrow i shoot 291/2.i think im shooting 393 grains tip and all.is that ok
Most bowyers will not extend warranties on bows shot with arrows below 8 grains per pound (which tells you something) and you're a little below that. Your bow will not be stressed as much if you boost your arrow weight a bit, and I think you'll find it more enjoyable to shoot as well.
Adding some point weight or using weight tubes could help you out on that.
Metal risered Olympic style recurves and compounds can handle really light arrows with ease, but they're just not a good long term idea for your typical wood trad bow IMO.
how much should i get it up to?
Whatever works for you, but I think you'll like a 450 to 500 grain arrow much better, and you'll be well over 8 grains per pound.
