Title: Urac 185?
Post by: b.glass on June 28, 2008, 10:57:00 AM
I have some Urac 185 that I've had for atleast 2 years sitting in the garage so it's been very cold and pretty hot. It says one the label to keep in a cool place. Is it now ruined?

I would guess yes.

It's not that expensive, so if I had a doubt, I'd buy new rather than risk good bow materials on bad glue.

More than likely. Open the can and see how it smells, Urac gets a very bad smell when it's gone over. When in doubt, just order some more. I write the date I received it on the lid and store mine in the back of the fridge. This way, I can usually get 2 years out of a can, but if it's been exposed to warm temps, then replace it.

We don't have it go bad but also we go through about 1 gal / month.  Had a guy give me a quart one time that was gone to the dark side. It gets thick and nasty smelling when it's bad.

You can save the powder. It shouldn't go bad. I was told all it is is finely ground black walnut and pecan hulls. Pat

I was thinking I would save the powder. Didn't see why not. Black walnut and pecan hulls huh? Thanks for the info.
