Pick your number one favorite animal to chase with a traditional bow. I saw the broahead poll and started to wonder what everyone used thier favorite broadheads on.
If I missed your animal, please post in the thread.

I love to bowhunt just about everything, but... If I had to pick only one animal to hunt the rest of my life- Bears would be my choice. They are just special.

Small game...by which I mean frogs, frogs, and more frogs...
Nothin like experiencing the elk rut in full swing with a fresh skif of snow and a bow in your hand.
Elk far and away for me.
Todd
I'm a Deer Hunter.
BUT.....being as the seasons run together here in N.Y. the Black Bear runs a very,VERY close second!!!!!
Generally speaking, I like to wander around in the woods with a bow in my hand. Since I spend more time doing that during deer season, I am going to have to say deer is the answer.
What a decision. I voted elk, just because they have been a passion for so long, but a new passion emerged this year. That would be bears. Good thing one is in the spring, the other fall!
All I have ever hunted is deer so I picked deer. I hope to hunt many of the other species in the near future though.
Deer here but dang, it's fun to bowhunt whatever is in season. Some day I'll slip up on an elk but for now - whitetails all the way.
Man, you're asking a lot, to choose just one. I don't know if I could. I live to hunt them all.
I love to travel to different places to hunt what they have there. I don't know if I could settle down for only one species.
bar none-ruttin bull elk can't be beat, I've been addicted since I was knee high to a grasshopper.
Spot n' stalk muleys is good too
callin up speed goats is quite exhilarating.
Monster moose too close in tight willows keeps the heart beating.
Can't believe stumps ain't on this list, or tree rats for that matter.
What about predators...would they be considered small game? I picked deer.
I am a whitetail purist.
Hogs, Hogs and more Hogs.
Public Land Spot and Stalk, have hunted over bait in the past but prefer spot and stalk, get to wander alot which is half the fun.
Javelina hunting is my favorite
I love elk but man I hope I never have to pick!!!!!!!
pigs love to hunt pigs!
Hogs and Javalinas!!!!!
Deer in a very, very close second.
Mike
It was tough but I went with hogs/javi with deer being next.
Just something about hunting hogs that gets my blood boiling.
CS
I love to skurill hunt while lookin for Whitetails.... Most of the time I even forget that I'm out hunting deer if'n da bushytails are a movin. Strange though??? seems that if you find one you usually can find the other in the same place...
nothing beats hunting sambar deer makes the rest look easy
I love it all, but to make a choice as my favorite, I have to pick the beloved whitetail.
From T-shirt weather on October 1st, to arctic cold on January 1st. Treestands, ground blinds, and sneaking around. Lean burger, and tender chops, fried with onions, mushrooms, and a hint of garlic.
A glimpse of antler is nice, but not necessary.
You didn't have an all of the above choice! ;)
So far it is just Deer, Because Deer is the only game I have hunted most the time. Been doing more small game, But Deer is #1 for now....
Plaining a bear hunt up State PA. Tioga State Forest... Brother-in-law has land up there...
Deer
Spot and stalk hogs for me!
Foxes
I picked deer but if I lived in a state that provided spot and stalk opportunities for hogs I believe my choice would have been different. I also had a hard time choosing between deer and carp (bowfishing).
Hard to say... Hogs & Javelina are the most fun for me. But you haven't lived until you have a snorting, snot-slinging bull elk come running in to within mere feet of you while you are shaking in your boots and looking for the shot... gotta be elk.
I would walk through a feild of P&Y deer without ever shooting an arrow if I thought a group of pigs was on the other side feeding. :biglaugh:
in my country i love to hunt nothing but fallow deer. and in your country well it was just good being out there with family. oh i did see a white tail doe came in about 5 t0 6 yards i dont know who was more suprised me or the deer. :biglaugh:
Deer and small game .
Mike
Hogs, but I haven't been to Africa or Australia. Yet.
I think location and familiarity might skew the results, so the poll becomes mostly more of a tale of where folks hunt most of the time and what's available there to hunt.
No pigs up here in the Nor'East, but they're still my fave! :D
Easy: The blind, deaf, smell-challenged and very stupid new world record ultra-nontypical bull elk who bugles nonstop just half a mile from where I park my truck, then when I shoot him runs a half mile downhill before he piles up! How could anyone think otherwise? Dave (PS: Notice how, since I discovered these wonderfully silly 'graemlings' that make whatever we say inoffensive, I try to use a different on each time?)
I was sure deer would be number one due to the fact that deer are everywhere and just way to much fun to hunt with a bow. I also thought Elk would be 2nd, but we do have more time to see what happens with the numbers.
Hogs/javelina and small game are the suprise to me. I do love the trad gang. Keep the posts coming.
thank you,
John III
I hunted deer all the time on the east cost but since moving out to Washington Elk is my #1 favorite critter to chase with a bow turkey and hogs run a close 2nd.....stabow
I think hogs would be the most fun to hunt, just haven't hunted them yet.
Deer and turkeys are all we have in Illinois so they're the most fun here.
I voted pronghorn because although I've been skunked twice, they're my favorite big game animal and I love the country/scenery where they are found.
Since they're at the bottom of the list contact me and I'd be happy to help try and take some off your hands while everyone else is busy pursuing their other favorites :goldtooth:
I like deer hunting as much as the next guy, but small game hunting is a nearly year long proposition. Generous bag limits plentiful game and challenging. Deer hunting is the easiest thing in the world compared to small game.
Squirrels!!! They're conivin'; exasperatin', and just plain ornery. Nothin' like huntin' squirrels.

The adrenaline rush of stalking bears is like nothing else. Caribou on open ground are such a challenge and every bull is so unique. Whitetails are so wiley and the bigger they get the more challenging they are. Moose are just so massive and fun to talk with. Kodiak Blacktails are the best eatin game on the planet. Sheep and goats are both amazing animals and just to navigate the terrain they thrive in(especially goats) have to rate them at the top of the challenging list. Then theres the shooting challenge birds bring... geese ducks and pheasants. Hamish mentioned fox which are a couple of my most prized critters taken.
My vote is, "YES"!!
Lol George. :-D
TTT
mine would have to be hogs!! love spot and stalk hog hunting.
I haven't found anything like bowhunting elk.
So far in my limited access to different game, I'm partial to whitetail deer, but small game is right behind. Turkey is my nemesis and I like playing that game. Still trying to get one!
I really hope to try elk, bear, caribou, pronghorn, javalina, desert sheep, mountain goats, dall sheep, moose and wild hogs someday. I have to add mulies, couse and blacktails too. Heck I'll bowhunt mosquitoes!!
Voted Deer, but also Turkey, here....Dreaming of hunting Elk, Bear, and everything else...
David
I would hate to think I had to give everything up but one animal. But nothing get my blood pumpin like a horned whitetail. :bigsmyl:
white tail, white tail and more white tail.and bunnys when they won"t let me hunt white tails..
elk
Paul J.
What no turkeys, I cant believe no turkeys on the poll. I voted for deer and I hunt them a lot but my all time passion is turkey hunting. Deer and turkeys and hogs are all I have ever hunted but I would love to hunt some of the other stuff and plan on starting to hunt some of the other game listed.
Haven't had the chance to hunt much, so deer it is!
Favorite Animal to Bowhunt? Answwer: whatever animal I am hunting at the time!
It's too difficult to answer. If I lived out west, no doubt it would be Elk, if I leaved in Quebec, undoubtedly Caribou, Alaska - Moose.. the list could go on and on.
