What kind of broadhead do you use for hunting deer?
last year i used 2 blades...this year i want to try out a ben pearson deadhead then the rest of the season ill be out with my snuffers.
I like my Snuffers 160 grn
I didn't see the answer I was looking for LOL
SHARP in whatever # of blades or even stone for that matter it really doesn,t matter on most heads these days
It's what broadhead do YOU use Tom, not which is best...
I've used 3-blades for years, Woodsman, Snuffer, Razorcap, and G5 Montec. This year I'm using 4-blades, Zwickey Delta, or Magnus Stinger.
From a stand I use my own 3 blade BH that I made from bar stock.
1.25 cuttig dia .05thk blades with .06Rad on each side where it meets the center out of 440 SS screw in.They came out @ 249.7grs :D
From the ground what ever at the moment currently I've been using the Magnus 2 1.5" wide head I can get them face shaving sharp
Sorry I should figured that but the best BH out there isn't worth a hoot if it ain't sharp...way to many good heads to say which one...besides my own ofcourse :biglaugh:
Been using 2 blade Grizley and magnus
2 blade zwickey delta for me. Tough and fly great!
BOB
Swampbuck, that sounds like a pretty interesting head. Any chance you could post a picture? Please!
I voted as to what I usually used but am gonna try something different this year, Probably a woodsman, but maybe a grizzly or STOS?????????
Decisions,
J
I've used Bear Razorhead's and Pearson Deadheads and Zwickey Eskimo's for years. Last year I bought Snuffers but didn't get a deer using them. I'll try again this year.
I use 3-blade snuffers for everything. But I'm using the 2-blade Eclipse for my elk hunt. To many elk hunters recommended a 2-blade for elk on this page.
no mercy
The always durable and reliable Ace Standard works best for me.
I've had great results from the Ace Express 165. Been shooting them for 3 or 4 years now. Good weight, width and length and an easily sharpened straight edge. Very durable head that gets sharp and stays sharp.
Magnus I ,Zwickey Delta and Simmons. All two blade.RC
Zwickey Eskimo 2 blade. They are all I use, because they just work too well.
John III
Last year used Tusker 190 2 blade.
I will be trying the 160 gr Grizzlys this year.
magnus 125 2 blade
I always used Zwickeys or grizzlys, both work great.
WOW!!!! 67% shoot 2 blades as of 12:41 6/27/08 pacific time.

I was impressed by that myself
magnus stingers,tough and fly great.
Zephyr Sausquach or a 160 gr Snuffer. Put a big hole in it and kill it dead :bigsmyl: Joseph
Have used Ace broadheads, with great results, as well as Magnus and Zwickey 2 blade, as well as grizzly's. I am looking at using the classic Howard Hill heads this year. Have tried the woodsman and didn't like the results.
woodsman or snuffers. Three blades for sure.
145 Gr Grizzly's
Snuffers for 20 yrs.........
Zwickey Eskimo 125 grain 2 blade for me. They get the job done and even I can sharpen them. I like how all you need for sharpening in the field or at home is a 6" file. Cheers, Matt
I'm partial to the 2 blade interceptors , have had great results with them , Fred
I wonder if things have changed much in four years?
I have been using red feather archery razor hawks.
2 blade Muzzy Phantoms 200 grain
Huh, I figured there would be more guys using 3 blades, given the popularity and effectiveness of the woodsman and VPA.
That being said, I'm going for caribou and white-tail this year with a zwickey no mercy.
Surprised there are not more 4 blade users.
Grizzly
I really don't have any indifference as to what head I shoot as long as it is sharp.
I've used 125grn stingers for years with no complaints, they fly great and stay sharp!
I'm using the Cliff Zwickey this year on my wood arrows. I've been using No Mercy on my carbons in the past. I was suprised at the results thinking I would see a larger percentage of 3 blade.
I had good results with the Simmons Interceptors last season, but I'm going to start with the big Tree Sharks this yr. I like to use different broadheads, but think I'll stick with the Simmons offerings. I also like their Tiger Shark and will have one of them in my single, broadhead, bow quiver.
Eclipse with the bleeders, so 4 blade
I am currently using snuffers on 2 of my recurves, ma-3's on my longbow, and ace's on my other curve. God Bless
I have 2-blade Stos 160's ready to go, but after reading the Old Timer (Dennis Kamstra) in the latest TBMag am going to try the TuffHeads. Start out with the field points they offer and see if that will work. He's advocating the Ashby type design.
Check out the TuffHead website for lots of info and sharpening gear. They're a sponsor here.
Been using Magnus Stingers 150 grn 4blade but trying 175 grn Woodsman Elite's this year.
I voted 4 blade which I guess is what the old Bear S/S Razorheads are with the bleeder installed.
Magnus two blades, the most deer killin head i have ever used.
3 blade VPA terminator 160 grain glue on.
Simmons sharks, zwickey eskimo and occassionally snuffer 160s. All for very different reasons.
Depends on what arrow I'm shooting at the time.
POC arrows......160 gr Rib Teks
Carbon or Aluminum....125 gr, 4 blade Muzzy Phantoms, or 125 gr 3 blade Thunderheads.
Been using 2blade Zwickey Eskimos for yrs. Last yr I added a 100grn steel insert, but honestly they worked fine with out it.
Simmons 2 blade interceptors & Tigersharks.
Crispin H
2 Blade Eclispe Wolverine 150's
Lots. Mostly 2 blades. Zwickey, Ace, Magnus, VPA, Grizzly, Bear, Eclipse,....
still using my 160 and 190 Ribteks....but got a few 200gr Grizzly Kodiaks to try this year as well on deer.
for turkey i have been using my 160 snuffers
4 blade - 145 bear razorheads with bleeders. I only have 3 of these right now, but they fly well. Hopefully I will come across some more somewhere. I did find an archery shop with a lot of replacement bleeder blades, so I'll probably go ahead and buy a few packs of those.
Two blade Simmons interceptors.
Has anyone else switched broadheads multiple times since voting in this poll??? I will be shooting 175 vpa terminators this season. They might just be the ticket for longevity in my quiver.... but I have always wanted to try Magnus 1's and Ace Super Express and Simmons Tigersharks and ......... Maybe we should have another poll next year :bigsmyl:
Snuffer 145's with 75 grain steel adapter's and Muzzy Phantoms 220's with inserts are gonna top my arra's this year. I like big holes that really let the blood flow. :D
Wow. Talk about a blast from the past. I saw the 2008 date and it caught me by surprise.
Anyway, last year and for this year, I've switched from a large 2 blade to a small 3 blade broadhead.
I have switched to terminators 200gr
There is no option for "both". :saywhat: That's my choice.

Good answer ;)
I have to caveat my response by saying that I have not yet taken a deer with trad gear....BUT, the end of my arrows are currently tipped with 175 gr Woodsman Elites. If they cut open a deer anything like they cut open my foot a few weeks ago, I should be in good shape! :knothead:
Kingsnake
If I told you...you still wouldn't know.
Zwickey Eskimos (2 blade) 175 grain
woodsman elite
Grim Reapers......Watch'em drop!
Blast from the past is right...
Well, now I'm shooting VPAs... 175 grain, 250 grain 1 1/4", and Big Jim's Big-3... Depending on the bow and arrow setup...
Very easy to sharpen, super tough, and I've liked 3-blades forever...
Wensel Woodman. I've been using the 125 grain original. Three rivers was out, so I ordered the 150 gr elite woodsman and they are pretty sweet.
