For awhile I have thought of going to Elk country in Pennsylvania for vacations, fishing, maybe buying some property for camping or hunting camp. This is the north central area including Cameron, Clarion, Tioga, Clinton, Warren and Elk counties, plus the Allegheny National Forest. Are there any Trad Gangers up there? Where are some good places for camping on a lake or getting lost in the woods? But then those guys don't want to give away any secrets!;-)
Hey, i live in Warren Pa. A couple ggod spots for fishing is all along the Kinzua Resevior. As for hunting i am not to sure because i hunt private land. PM me with any ??? and i will try my best to find what you need or answer any questions about the area.

I grew up in Kane Pa. now live in Iowa. For years I hunted the Allegany National forest in Elk and McKean counties. I still visit family and bow hunt every few years.
Look over a map of the area around Kane and James City. You will see there are some nice places to get "lost" and the derr, bear and turkey populations is doing well there.

I was up in Tioga county PA this past weekend.... You can get lost up there. I was in the Tioga State Forest, Very nice. I'll be hunting up there this year for Bear & Deer.
Its been alot of years since I was in Pa, left in 1972, but I did alot of hunting in Tioga co. and Clinton, Dad my brother and I usually hiked aways in and had alot of room to get lost in, it was a good part of Pa to live in. I still have some logging buddies living there and they tell me the numbers of mountain deer are down.
I hunted in Tioga county for about 25 years. Sold my camp down there to spend more time in our camp in NY. I really miss it. There is a reason they call it God's Country. Go to the ETAR at Denton Hill then ride around the hills. You may not want to go home !
I live in Elk county. There are plenty of places to hunt and fish up here. All depends on what you like I guess. The deer population is down compared to what it used to be, but October is a glorious time to be here. There are plenty of turkeys and other small game as well. Seems there are always a few camps for sale too. If you come up to see the elk, take a drive through the Quehanna wild area as well. There is a lot of room to explore and lots of public land in this part of the state. If you are heading up this way some time, shoot me a PM. I have 2 kids and all the baseball games, cheerleading practices and karate classes that come with them, but I'd be happy to meet up with you if I can.
I am down near Baltimore and also have 2 kids, aged two and four. So I don't get out near enough either. The idea is to find a nice place, maybe a campground or cabin on the water for good fishing and relaxing. We usually go up to the Adirondacks in the summer. The thought was it might be like that up there in PA and not so far away. Is it nice and cool in the summer? How much snow in the winter. We might take a long weekend and get out to see the elk.
