Title: Homemade single bevel heads and test
Post by: JSimon on June 23, 2008, 09:32:00 PM
I thought this was a great thread on michigan-sportsman on some homemade broadheads a guy made and a great test using single bevels on a dead deer. Pretty cool!

Oops. I just did a search and I guess this was posted on here a while back as well. Some pretty sweet broadheads though.

That same very convincing test story and photos ry RGK are in the new issue of TBM, which arrived here last weekend, as part of a Dr. Ashby story on "The Single Bevel Advantage." Yet another Ashby contribution, discussing the Tanto head, is in the works for a future issue. Dave

Dave,
That Little Yellowstone baby elk I took last year went down with no problemo due to the single beveled 190 Grizzly with modified tip.  Not surprising, just thought I would chime in.

This is worth seeing again.

I have shot the grizzlies since the Doc came out with his first Natal study and have known that the single bevel advantage helped with penetration and my selfbow/arrow set-up.

When he came out with the right wing right bevel now I needed to make a change to improve even further my penetration. I shoot left wing.

Got tired of waiting for some broadhead company to do it so I made my own left single bevel broadhead this winter. No ferrel like the ones above but I am looking forward to trying them this hunting season.

Yes that guy did some good work. I think Rancid Crabtree is also here on the Trad Gang and he goes by the handle of RGK.   :biglaugh:
