I am putting together a group of 6 total, including me, to go to a fantastic bear camp June 2009. I am also doing some pre-booking for 2010.
This is one of the two or three best locations in North America for boomer bears that are not afraid of people- heck, they've probably never seen people! EVER!!!
Give me a call at 678-300-2883 or email me at rayhammond01@yahoo.com to discuss.Don't PM as the box fills up too fast!!!!
Take a look at the following thread-
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=061449
if you are at all interested, give me a call. This camp books up very quickly...we cannot wait for the fall and expect to get to go in '09 so we need to get organized...we booked our trip two years ago!

Ray, sounds like a great hunt..... Boy O boy I want to get a Bear with either my Shrew or Pyramid Red Oak bow......Wish I had the money to Get in on what would be a hunt of a life time for me....Good Luck
Ray, bears that have never seen people, tend to fear them. It's the Yogis of the bear world that lose their fear of man. I'm not a bear hunter....unless, of course, one tries to get in my back door. 8^).
Here's how northern Sasketchawon bears behave
I'll try and reload the video
George,
I mean no disrespect, but take a look at my video when I get it on here and tell me how scared this wilderness bear is of me as I approach to ten feet, OK?
I'm going to have to go with the expert I hunted with on this one, who says he believes wilderness bears are NOT afraid of people, with his 30 years of experience guiding bear hunters in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
In fairness, it may also be said that bears habituated to people, through feeding, may ALSO have lost their fear of people, so perhaps that is what you meant.
If that's the case, then I believe we are both right.
Big, I tried to view your video, which I think is the one where Jill was filming as you tried to recover another bear? It said I needed a new flash player, so I downloaded it, and now it still says I need a newer version than the newest one I could get from the Adobe website. You ol' technology guru!!!!!!!!!!
Ray,
Email sent.

Biggie....the video wouldn't play for me...but you probably smelled like donuts 8^).
I ran into 3 big boar hogs in the Cohutta Wilderness....and they weren't scared. They KNEW I was there as we had a mexican stand off twice. They never bolted once, only snarled, huffed, blew, and growled continuously for 15 minutes daring me to come closer as they strutted around jocking for position.
I was in their turf and they knew it. I backed off as dark set in as we were all in a mountain laurel thicket.
So, I know what you mean....and believe you.
Ray, pm sent.
A true wild place with no roads. Big awesome bears and superb fishing. Getting to hunt a week at such a place with fellow traditional bowhunters, even better... I do love bear hunting.
Thanks for the phone time Ray. See you at the airport in Minneapolis next June. I sure hope this trip fills up with Trad Gang hunters.

I lost my hard drive so I don't have the article back as yet but according to the author, a PhD "bear biologist", black bear attacks while rare are increasing and most of the attacks happen in remote areas. I suspect this may be so as around people there tends to more easily obtained food sources and a learning curve as it were for bears takes place. Someone encountering a bear in a remote area may run or climb a tree-both of which are more likely to trigger a bear's predatory instincts/an attack than a bear that has been around people and learned something about them. I also read that bears will chase each other up trees and fling the submissive bear outta the tree! So whatever you do, don't hunt bears from a treestand! :D
It's a shame I can't do this hunt, QQIII, and Australia all next year...so many hunts, so little time and no winning lottery ticket.
I hear ya JC. I figure I'm going to have to be widowed or divorced ust to get back on BQIII next year. :(
Ray,
Sent you an email.
