Fred, I assume your bow was in the photo J.D. sent out when they shipped. Which one was yours?
4th from the top....macassar ebony riser, bamboo limb core with yew veneers and elk antler nocks.
Very Nice. If I get the bug to order another one I'll call you and maybe you can talk me out of it. I'll do the same for you. Kind of like a Whisperstik support group.
Congrats TJ!!!!
I too got a new Whisperstik in the mail.
TJ and Fred mine was the lefty in the bunch.
56" macassar ebony riser with bocote flare w/ bocote limb veneers and antler tips
Jeff, that was a beautiful wood combo. Is that your first whisperstik?
All these other people talking about bows they've just received and no other pictures...hummmm. That just plain wrong, don't be afraid to hijack the thread...just think of it as adding on.
I had the pleasure of shooting his bows about a month ago...I'm fortunate in that he lives close to my parents.
First off he's a great person to deal with...that goes a long way in my book. Took the time to answer all my questions and I'm going to be ordering a bow soon. I'm looking over different woods, just can't decided. There is a picture on his website with Gabon Ebony and Birdseye that has amazing contrast. Also the bows made out of Cocobolo and Bubinga are stunning.
I shot a 58" Voodoo that just flat out screamed. I still think I should have bought that bow...all Zebra with antler tips. Wow was that bow nice!!!
I'm saving my pennies and selling just about everything that isn't nailed down in the house to get one.
JD...you're going to get an order from me sooner than later.
Josh
Forgot to mention...very nice looking bow. The flare is a nice touch.
Josh
Very nice bow! Congrats on you new friend! :)
Oliverstacy, When you're right you're right. So here you go....

1/4...WOW are they all nice. I like the Ebony riser on yours.
Take it outside tomorrow and take some pic's and post them when you get a chance.
Anyone know what the bottom wood is?
Josh
Beautiful bows!
Wow, I like!!
Thats sure one great looking bow :bigsmyl:
TJ
This was my first custom bow and I couldn't be happier. JD makes on heck of a bow. The pictures don't do these bows justice. Good luck with yours.
Jeff
VERY NICE AND A GREAT BOW AND GUY TO DEAL WITH
what is the grip similer too [other bows i mean]
i shot his takedown and the grip was a little large he told me it was! how does the bulge feel in the hand palm area,a friend of mine has one i have not been able to shoot it yet he loves his thanks Ralph
The grip feels strange at first because it's like nothing you have ever felt. But then you quickly get used to it. The bulge fits right into the palm of your hand and I think this is the main reason these bows shoot where you are looking.
J.D. can replicate any grip style if you don't know about this one.

Let me chime in about the grip.
I admit, I was skeptical about the grip when I first opened up the demo bow last winter. It looked different, it felt different, and I was sure I didn't like it. I shot the bow for a full week, maybe 40-50 shots a day, all different positions, you name it, I tried it. I would shoot groups over a period of hours, shoot one shot and put the bow down, then go work on rods for a while. Later, pick it up and just shoot another arrow. No re-positioning, just pick it up and shoot. And you know what?? This grip works. Period. No BS, no excuses, it's a good design.
So, if at all possible, get one to try. A buddies, someone at a shoot, one of the demo bows, just get your hands on one and try it. I was sure I wouldn't like it. I KNEW it wouldn't work for me, no matter how nice the bow was. Here's a picture of the riser on my Mojostik 56", take a close look at the grip.
And here's how it shoots with that grip.

Of course, your mileage may vary, but I don't think so, lol.
thanks!the bow i shot was a takedown with the hinge and i did not care for it but j D told me it was not his standard grip i wish i would have waited on a regular grip bow!
i like the way the looks and my buddy says his is very quiet and quick i am looking forward to shooting one soon no hijack intended on this post just very interested in this bow!Ralph
I have to agree with TJ and Kevin. One of the keys to shooting accurately is being able to grip the bow the same for each shot. JD's grip allows for consistent hand placement shot after shot. Admittedly the bulge in the grip does take a little getting use to (I'm talking minutes not days) but it is the key to this bows hitting where its pointed. Here's some pics of my new Mojostick...

Great looking setup Fred.
Real nice combo!
JD is a true artist and makes one beautiful bow which is just plain fun to shoot. I have a hard time putting mine down.
TJ, I hear you bro....a Whisperstick Support Group sounds like a good idea...LOL I think my next one will be a 56"er. Although I'm hoping in the future he comes out with a 3 piece TD recurve.
I'd like to see a TD also, but make mine with the Bowbolt system. And I know what you mean about shooting it all the time, I'm destroying my bag target's center. Maybe I should shoot some of my other bows, to even out the wear a bit, LOL.
Wow, that is a real looker TJ!
Kevin, Sent ya a PM.....Fred
Fred, replied.
Kevin
Fred- I see you are shooting carbons. They just flat out blister out of a whisperstik dont they?
As far as grips go, JD does make a signature grip too. Its the grip on the bottom bow pictured. It has the overlays on bottom. I like that grip better personally. Two of my own bows are the bulge type grip. I had JD custom form them by flattening the back of the grip for me. They still have the bulge in the sides for hand placement. They are all good.
Jashu, Yep those carbons are like rockets and mine weigh 570gr. I never shot any of JD's other grips. The test bow he sent had his standard grip (bulge) and its what I'm use to now. Maybe I'll have him send me one with his signature grip just so I can see the difference.
There you go Fred, don't do it. Just take it out of your mind. You really don't need another one. We are here for you buddy.

Jashu, I'm shooting the same Gold Tip carbons through all four of my recurves. They push down my scale at 401 grains. Talk about smokin. I wish I had a chrono.
I'm shooting 540gr carbons outta my 56" recurve. I don't have a crony, but they swing the heck out of a bag target. I can only shoot one arrow and then pull, tried to shoot groups of three and busted one from the side :banghead:
I have been shooting an 1969 Bear Super Kodiak (I have a thing for Grayling Bears)I just had refinished with 550 grain aluminums. This bow is #55. Its pretty quick. After a while with that I picked up the #50, 56" Mojo prototype with 425 grain carbons. GOOD LORD! thats an eye opener. I was used to seeing the slower arrow and its a snap back to reality with a carbon and a 56" whisperstik. I dont remember seeing the first arrow in flight. Flat out blisterin'
I have an idea for a new 56" JD and I have been talking about. If JD can get the components we need, it will be......amazing.......
TJ,
Beautiful bow!
I really like that grip!
Now if you can help me convince my wife we don't really need a new roof, or dishwasher, or tires on my truck... I can order one just like it!
Enjoy!
John
John, ya need tires on the truck, but a wife AND a dishwasher?? I got a combo unit, fills both roles, lol.
Tell her you need a new bow to be able to feed the family in uncertain times :readit:
how fast is the bow say 55bs@ 28"550 grain arrow
anybody chrono one! just curious i hear how fast they are!thanks Ralph
I Chonoed my 43# @ 29" with a 435 gr arrow it is at 184 fps, and I have another whisperstik, that I am waiting for JD to finish up.
So if you have to order one, go ahead, it only hurts for the first five seconds after you hang up the phone ! :goldtooth:
And when you get it in your hand, and shoot it for the first time you're overwhelmed joy !
The whisperstik is the quietest bow I've ever had.
Carl
Here is my first one
its new to me Whisperstik 43# @ 29"
I don't know what woods are in it,
but it looks fine and functional to me.

Brokenarrow1..
Looks like Padauk in the handle with either ash or maple limbs to me.
Josh
What is the starting price on a whisperstik I gotta know!. Those are some great lookin bows.
When u guys say J.D. is that J.D. Emerson from ancient spirits. If so, then I live about 10 minutes from the shop where he makes the bows.
Buckeye
Here is a link to JD Lund's website:
http://www.whisperstikbows.com/
Starting price is around $475, JD makes a great bow.
Jeff
Check out his website..it's in the sponsor list above.
Recurves start at 475.00 I think, then the options add to that.
That's JD LUND of WhisperStik bows. Really nice guy to talk to.
I'm getting a couple to try out tomorrow. After looking at these, especially the cocobolo with bacote flare, it is probley a done deal on ordering a couple ! :D :readit:
A Mojo and a matching VooDoo Stik...can't have one without the other!
Mike :campfire:
Sweet Bows, looking forward to seeing the ones you're getting to test drive.
My second whisperstik has Honduras Rosewood in the riser, bamboo core lambs, at least that's what I think. I haven't gotten the e-mail yet that JD sends out to tell you that it's on the way. But I'm looking forward to that e mail, But as you can see, he is a busy man, that's because he is also a talented bow maker. The best thing I like about JD, he is down to earth, his bows haven't gone to his head, he talks to you just like as if he has known you for years, and you are his best friend. He is a great person to work with when getting a new bow. I don't think he is one of the " up and coming" bow makers, I think he is one of the top-notch bow makers in the nation.
I could be a little biased, but any time you can take one his bows, any of them, and shoot it like you've shot it for years, from the very first time, that shows he has talent, and he extends it into his bows. Cool
And any time somebody is in the area shoot me a PM, and you can shoot my whisperstik's and you will see the difference.
