Im getting a clicking when I shoot that I believe is from the nock end hitting the back of the shelf.So I tried my 700gn. ash shafts which spine, I believe at around 70#s, the bow is dead silent and dedly accurate.The ash arent so easy to find so Im looking for something that is readily availabe, carbons.Any recipes would be appreciated.

I shoot a Toelke Whip 56 @ 26 and use Carbon express 150's arrows with a 250g field point and 5 grain per inch weight tubes for a total of 705g,, the fly great!!

I`ve been messing around with ICS-MFXs shafts with 100gr insert an 250gr field point an my weights for 300 ICS is 660gr an 340 MFX is around 700gr - U my need to go with the 340s or 300s to get them to tune. Those set ups i mention are in 22%FOC range which is good for max penetration :thumbsup:
AD Trad Heavies, 29",100 gr brass insert,100gr steel screw in adaptor and 145 gr Mohawk Magnum I broadhead = 700+gr out of 60# bows.

I shoot out of my 70#@27 21st Cetury Nova a Beman Black Max MFX 300,11.7 gpi,29.5",100 gr.insert,footed with 1.5" 2016 and 200 gr. point and they weigh in at 690 grs..They fly great and are very tough.
I am shooting Carbon Extreme Heritage 250 shafts with 100 grain brass insert and 250 grain head. That comes to 730 grains. The shafts are also crown dipped and crested. They are flying beautifully out of a 55# Hill Wesley.
At a 7" brace Ive finally got the bow to quiet down.She shot very nice at 22 yards with my favorie arrows.Gonna give the frogs a hard time with it tonight.Thanks for your suggestins folks.

I've been having trouble hitting the outside of the riser with the back 6-8" of the arrow basically the same thing you described.I ended up raising my NP to 5\\8 and adding a little cushion under the rug right over the deep part of the grip.Seemed to help quiet it down,also I made sure that my rug(sealskin or calfhair)covers the entire shelf.
Funny even with the impact I could get bare shafts to fly well.....sorry it didn't give ya a 700gr arrow but it helped me good luck
Not carbon, but 29" 2219s with 175 grn up front comes to about 640 grn and eliminates the same problem from my short 54# longbow. Pretty darn tuff shaft, too.
I have been pleasantly suprised by a 2018 @ 29 1/2".May try those 2219s.
don,t give up on the carbon yet. I,m drawing close to 28"50lbs also Morrison, axis and beman 400 cut to 29,5 but need 300 up front , knock at
least 5/8 up.

I love my Grizz Stiks, killed a pile of elk with em last few years. hitting 700 grains with them is easy, and if you don't lose them (@#&% moving stumps!), they last for a long time...I'll tell you how long when mine give out.
Drawing 29 at 50ish pounds, my 5575 Goldtips at 31" with 100 grain insert and 250grain point fly well. I worked these up for Africa this summer and come in about 670's. At 56#, cut them to 30" ought to be real close.
Just finished these today - look out African Beasties. The crest is a little gawdier than I usually do, but these are the colors of the South Africa flag, so maybe they'll have some good MoJo two months from tomorrow!

I am assuming that the wood shafts are a larger diameter than the carbons. If so, you may only need to adjust your nocking point down a bit for the carbons to eliminate the clicking if, in fact, it is the arrow slapping the shelf.
