Title: Let's talk about sweet tooths and purty arrows
Post by: BrianfromTulsa on June 14, 2008, 11:17:00 AM
I'm probably going to regret letting this secret out but after last years St Jude auction I noticed that there was a lot of fuss over home made cookies.  Not being one to miss a good cookie, I vowed to win a batch this year just to see for myself.

I quickly noticed that Miss Kim's cookies had attrected quite a "deep pocket" cult like following and soon decided that instead of taking out a second mortgage, I would search a little deeper into the listings for an alternative.  That's when I found Miss Jen's offering.

After a hectic bidding war, I soon emerged the victor and awaited the delivery of my hard earned spoils.  To make a long story short, they arrived yesterday.

Now, I would certainly never speak ill of such a highly fought over offering such as Miss Kim's cookies, especially since I have never sampled them but I will publicly state that they would have to be pretty spectacular to exceed those produced by New Jersey's own Miss Jen.

I probably won't be able to afford them next year but at least I'll have the memories.  Thank you Miss Jen and I'll see the rest of you at next years auction.

This post has dragged on for far too long so I'll tell yoy about my purty arrows in another thread.

Yeah buddy! Mine arrived yesterday as well, and I just now got time to open them. Neatly packed, in a plastic box, and on top was a beautiful anniversary card for Clark and me!

These two, Jen and Eric, had to bake the cookies at night because of the ferocious heat wave we were having. The cookies are all that chocolate chip cookies are supposed to be, tender, with just the right crustiness at the edges, and melty chocolate chips just begging to be set free! Ha! I'll free you, my beauties!!
AH hahahahahahahaha!   :D

Only one bummer, though. I will have to explain the card, which will force me to share a cookie or two from the two dozen with my soulmate whom I love above all others...within reason.

Thanks Eric and Jen, you went above and beyond in fulfilling your pledge in th St. Jude's auction. Your donation helps a lot of kids, and puts a smile on my face that can only come from chocolate chip cookies!
  :bigsmyl:

Oh, here's the kicker! I didn't bid on the cookies! My power was out. So, feeling guilty at not being there to snap at the heels of the bidders, I called Vermonster to explain my predicament. He posted about the power outage, and that it was our 25th wedding anniversary (Clark's and mine, not David's and mine...) and in jumps Bodark Okie. He bid on and won the cookies, and gave them to us for the special day!
Ya gotta love this site!

A couple more stories about trad gang folks and ST. Jude Auction "antics" to warm the very cockles of my heart. If it doesn't warm yours, take two aspirin and call your Dr. in the morning  - you may be dead!

Glad you guys are enjoying them!

Killy, when Jen found out that Gene won the cookies for your 25th anniversary, she decided that one of her handmade cards would be a nice addition. She's already talking about stitching some Christmas cards to donate to next year's auction.

They would be real winners,Eric! Oh, BTW, tell Jen that Clark has always had a soft spot for pansies (the FLOWERS, guys, don't start!  :saywhat:  ) because of the little faces on them. He will flip when he comes home and sees this!

Excellent work! This card will be saved in a scrapbook, it is really special.
