Here is my first obsidian arrowhead arrow. Tapered cedar shaft.Spined 50# with approximately 125gr point and real turkey feathers, right wing shield cut. Point hafted with epoxy and deer sinew.

Cool! I want to try one on a bamboo shaft this year.Any one make and sell hunting quality knapped heads?I sure could never live long enough to ever learn to make one. :bigsmyl:

Looks awesome! I know someone who killed a 5 point bull with an obsidian point, self arrow and sinew backed bow that he had all built himself.
I think that would be the ultimate.
He got about 24" of penetration from about 10 yrds. away, drawing 55lbs. @ 26". I think the arrow weighed between 500 - 550g.

Madness532 you can used knapped heads here in NC.Broadheads have to be a min of 7/8" wide but there is no mention of materials in there construction.Guys have been hunting with them for years here.
There is some writing on it but I can't reveal that at this time. I could have made a self nock, but the shaft I wanted to use was was already tapered on the nock end and I didn't want to shorten the arrow. Thanks for the kind words. I have seen many beautiful arrows and heads on this site. Much nicer than mine. My goal is to inspire others to try these things and be proud of what they have accomplished and not embarrased by what they haven't. I know that my best work is always yet to come.
