I recently purchased a new martin hunter recurve. 62"AMO 55# @ 28". I pull about 30" It seems that I get the best flight with a high nock point, like 3/4 is this normal. My brace height is at 7 7/8. Just wondering if anyone elso shoots this bow and finds these settings to work best. I have also had a heck of a time trying to find out why I am getting substatial arrow rest wear on the outside edge of the shelf. I have tried everything I can think of and had no luck, so I was also wondering if anyone with this bow has had similiar problems. Thank you
3/4" is not uncommon and should be just fine, as for the arrow rest the only reason i can think of is feather quill contact
Need more info on what arrow you are shooting. 3/4 of an inch is about right for 3 under but kinda high for split. My guess is that you are shooting the wrong spine.
I use a 3/4" nock height and 8 to 8 1/4" brace on both my Hunters. 30" draw, too.
I started low with the nock and worked my way up over many months. I had similar issues with hitting the outside of the shelf, but the high nock and a consistent grip took care of it.
I think the high nock point might be the nature of the beast, though an inconsistent grip (too high or low) can make you think your nock point is off, too, so it doesn't hurt to check that either.
For me personally, with the Hunter, the arrow doesn't necessarily leave the bow like it looks like it should, as an arrow perfectly 90-degrees to the string. I use a medium-high grip, which, for lack of better terms, simply tilts the shelf toward me more at full draw, necessitating a higher nock point for the arrow to remain high enough to cleanly clear the shelf.

I am shooting beman ics bowhunters. 400 spine which is right down the middle of the chart for 55# @ 28". Even with my 30" draw, it still says 400's. I do shoot split finger
