I finally have a chance to post, been busy!
Last weekend, a group of us from Michigan Bow Hunters District 7, had the chance to teach around 100 Girl Scouts some archery at Camp Merrywood. Rob Kruko(district governor), his daughter Ellie, my daughter Casey, Stan(sorry forgot his last name) and I had a blast. We even got the mothers shooting!!!!!!
The camp had some of their own bows, but we brought Casey's longbow and Ellie Kruko brought hers. I encourage anyone who wants to help teach to bring their own gear if they have it. Camps are in need of proper gear and are sometimes short handed in that area.

thats one fine group of ladies you have there! Aint it fun!
I love the smiles on their faces just from watching an arrow fly!!! Good lesson for all. :D
I got my certification to be a range instructor for the Boy Scouts. My experience is that kids love archery. Most kids would spend almost their whole camp time on the archery range. I can always use extra time at the range as a reward for good camp behavior! Thanks for taking the time to work with the youth.

I agree it's a great feeling. I took a course and got my NFAA trainer card a couple weeks ago. We are running a course at our community center. You can see the magic in these kids ! I think it was Fred Bear that said something like if your not doing something to protect archery your destroying it .
That is what it's all about right there. Great job!
Thats great! :clapper: Thanks for sharing
good work arwin....now all you need to do is gather them girls and bring them to our bunny hunt!!!!
Arwin,
Would not steal your thread for anything, but we recently had the opp to teach a group of about 50 homeschooled children in Chattanooga, TN area archery class the last week of May at summer camp. Just wanted everyone to see that our future is teaching these kids archery and get them off the video games ! Hope these threads encourage more of us to teach the next generation. Never met a kid yet that was not addicted immediately once they flung that first stick !
The thread is down close to the bottom of the first page of tradgang under the State orginzations. Look under the TN state orginzation under, " Homeschool Archery Success ". I am not that good at posting links maybe someone can come along and do it for me and show me how to do that too ?
Great job Arwin on educating them Girl Scouts. Wonder how many will grow up and take up archery as an adult and continue the tradition ?
