Title: 'nother crazy idea (nock footing)
Post by: BobW on June 06, 2008, 10:19:00 AM
The idea of putting a small section of aluminum on the nock end of carbons to strengthen things has been done.

As I was cutting up some shafts to do some footing, I am left with the factory tapered nock end with the nock installed.  Not wanting to throw anything away, and seeing that these fit on the shaft, any thoughts of using them as the actual nock?

My thought is there is too much wobble as you place the footed shaft over the carbon, it might give you a nock that is not in line with the shaft?
but that is just a guess

Carbon Express Maxium's have them, they are called Bull Dog nock collars.

BobW,

I see no reason why this wouldn't work. Just use a slow set epoxy so that you can be sure that the "collar" is running true with the carbon shaft.

You could also wrap dental floss (unwaxed) around the carbon shaft to get a light press fit for the the collar, and then epoxy the whole works together.
