Well today is just one of those days when nothing ever goes right for you. You know the ones, hassel here, hassel there and poor weather made it just one of those days. I'm glad it's over now.
I was just looking through all the pics I have on my laptop, dreaming of being home with longbow in hand, when I found this one from when I was home last and hunting with my princess, my daughter, Isobel. Or as everyone calls her, "Bell".

The pic made me very homesick so I sent her through an email to say hello and that daddy is thinking of her always.
She is in my prayers and I hope I'm in hers, but as i said... I'd rather be in the bush then where I am. A means to an end.
AK.
Al, I wish you could be there too. Thank you and God bless you for what you're doing. How much longer before you come home?
Al,
Stay focused...
You owe it to her!!!!
i hear you Al, often look back at pics of South Africa and wish i was walking around the bush with my bow and a quiver full of arrows, not sitting here in good old wet england.
great pic mate, and how's that form
be safe
Andy
Al, your in my prayers, and I am sure many others here. I wish you were home in the bush instead of where you are too. Stay strong and focused and you'll be home soon and out chasing your favorite prey with your daughter at your side.
How much longer will you be where you are?
D-
Like you said buddy, a means to an end, and a better life for Bell and Sam! Take care mate and keep your eye on the prize  Joseph
I know the feeling, Al. Like Andy, I also REALLY miss the African bush rather than "sunny" England! :D
Stay strong brother! That's a great pic! Looks like you've got a great little hunting partner there! Her form looks superb!
Keep well mate!
Nigel
I know the feeling all too well Amigo,
I'm on a drilling job right now and away from the family. I put some time in on the ground over there at the start with 1st Marines. Maybe you can find some bowfishing on the Tigris?
I just got my little girl Cleo (7)started shooting this year and she has a ball with it. I can't wait until she is a bit older and ready to hunt.
Be safe and check your 6 often,
Doc
Wow,
Her form is better than mine. Al, you're a luck man. I've got a little girl coming in July/August. May have to get some pointers from you! Stay safe. Tge
Al, my good friend. Keep your head down and as was said eye on the prize. Good lookin kids you have. You are in my prayers.
Danny
Al,
Hang tough brother!
You have a great family and your pic's are pricless.
When you make it back down my way give me a shout. We can get some chow and do some shooting. Maybe even turn you into a Morrison shooter. :bigsmyl:
Chris
Thankyou for what you have sacrificed, it is tough being away from family. Spent time away from home but didn't have a family back then.
How old is your girl? she has the form down pat! She will probably out shoot you when you get home!!!

Check 6 often - God speed friend
These are the good old days. Used to be, a man carried a pic of his gal, and waited for letters. Thanks to the internet, and a laptop, a whole world is right here with you.
Conditions suck. Bureaucracy is bureaucracy and the wheels turn with a grinding slowness, and backwards, it seems. Thank God you are there, and thanks to God, you will return to the loving arms of your family. If you can think of a thing that I can do for you, name it. It is yours.
What I wish for you is your family around you, and the lush greens of a vibrant, growing land. That, after all, is the goal.

Hey Al, there's a few ferals over here in the Never-Never just waiting for your arrows! Take care, Ben
Al,
Your little one will be shooting lights out by the time you get home. Stay safe. You and your safety have been added to our prayer list.

wolfman jeff
Thanks so much for all your well wishers my friends... I never ment the thread to seem like I was in need of anything real bad. I just have been flat over the past few days and I'd rather not go into all the rough details. There are others out here that have been worse off then I.
As its said... there is no place like home.
Have to run my frinds, work calls... but again thanks.
I'll answer some of the questions upon my return in a day or so.
Warm regards,
AK.
Al my friend keep your head down and you'll be back home fore ya know it.
Al,
That offer of a wilderness elk hunt still holds true, be it this year or next.....
Some of us have done what you do overseas far away from home for long periods of time....For me it was another time, another place and a different kind of conflict. But the emotional drain is similar. Hang tough my friend, it eventually comes to an end....then we hunt, we fish, with family and friends, old and new. Stay focused, stay in the hunt....
Beautiful little gal you have there Al. My daughters eight and enjoys the hunt as well. Keep safe and focused, time will fly and you'll be home sooner than it seems. All the best.
