Howdy Folks,
I just found this forum this morning. I don't know how I've managed to not find it in the last 10 years.
I reside in Boerne, TX and travel extensively for my work.
I've been shooting and hunting with Traditional Bows (Mostly a Ron Fox Longbow) for the last 10 years.
It's great to find a site dedicated to traditional shooting as I've still got tons of questions to find answers for and I may actually know something that is useful for someone as well.
Great to be here,
Doc
Welcome to the gang! ;)

Lots of fine folks here.
LOL just this morning LOL
Welcome aboard :wavey:
I used to shoot the 3D shoots at Bullis until 9/11. I had heard that they were canceled and never heard anything about them restarting. Not long after that, I was activated to go to war and kind of lost track of it all. Are they still happening out there?
It's nice to be welcomed in.
Thanks folks,
Doc
Welcome to the campfire. Pull up a stump and enjoy.

Welcome from Houston. My sister lives in Boerne and teaches in San Antonio. Ever hunt Aransas National Wildlife Refuge? It's the best. If you're interested and haven't let me know and I'll give you the info. Hunt is $60.00 to hunt 35,000 acres of the wildest country in Texas - loaded with hawgs, deer, alligator (big ones) bobcat, etc. and just a few mosquitoes from time to time:) Last year though there were none. Truthfully and it was great. Hunt is the first 10 days of archery season in October.
Welcome.
Reagen and Woody;
I'm just down the road in SA. Near Sea World.
Howdy for Deeeeeeeeep East Texas. Hope you enjoy the fire.
I lived in Austin for about 10 years '84-'93 and sure do miss the Hill Country. Liv'in in SE Texas now and hope to return to SA again soon.
Congrats on gettin' here! :wavey: You must be one of the good folk... cause it seems that's all they let register here!
I've been through Boerne a few times, but never spent enough time there, usually just passing through. That's some beautiful country.
:wavey: Howdy :wavey:
Thanks for making me feel so welcome here folks. Just cruising around the site, I've already found a ton of information that I haven't been able to find anywhere else.
I picked up my new/old Texas Recurves "Brush Buck" last night. I have another post here about that bow and will be posting pics later.
It was short lived happiness as DPS picked me off on Hwy 46 for going 69 in a 60. OUCH! The funny part was that I had just checked my GPS and it said I was going 61.2 which is what I told the Trooper. I didn't want to argue too much with him due to the fact that, being in transition home from a drilling job in Louisiana, I had a .44 under the seat that didn't need to draw any attention.
Such is life. Long after the ticket is forgotten, I'll still have the bow to shoot.
I look forward to flinging some arrows with you folks.
Doc
Welcome!!! :campfire:
and a hello to a fellow chosen one.
Doc, Bullis is still alive and well. They have a 3-D every month just like before 9-11. I need to start going again. See ya :wavey: :archer: ...Van

:bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
Welcome Doc it's great to have you join us.
I've been to the aransas wildlife refuge. Huge deer. One of the biggest I've ever seen in the wild. I also saw gators and of course Texas sized mosquitos. I graduated high school in Portland, Tx, just outside of Corpus Christi.
Doc, I live in San Antonio, used to live in the Boerne area. Need someone to talk to about trad stuff just send me a PM. Welcome
Welcome to camp from Granbury Texas.Put up a wind screen will ya! This strong south wind is making me gitterish.LOL
Recondoc, Austin archery club has 3d shoots third Sun of each month Jan-Sept. We have a good turnout of traditional shooters and a great range. Bring a recurve and a longbow and shoot twice. Also Tex trad tournament July 26/27. Type in Austin Archery club in google for web page info.

I'm in Boerne too.Welcome to the area!

Welcome aboard!
QuoteBoerne....Is a little north of San Antone.
That one made me laugh. I've often said that if someone says there from (whatever) town in Texas, and you never heard of it, it's a good bet that it's near Dallas/Ft Worth, Houston, or San Antone. lol
