Good News!!! I have successfully recruited a new archer! This morning I brought along one of my brother's and I friends to a 3d shoot. He enjoyed it thoroughly! He had to share my brother's bow since he doesn't have one. What bow would you recommend he get? He is right handed and looking for a inexpensive bow aka no more than $150. I was thinking the Mohegan Recurve Bow by Greatree Archery
from 3Rivers. Any others that I should consider recommending?
Why not a used bow. An old Bear, Pearson, Shakespeare, Wing, etc. would get you a great shooting bow and keep you under the amount he wants to spend. Plus, if it doesn't take hold or if he wants to order a custom bow later, he can get his money back on resale.
Greg, my son and I just started shooting. I bought a 46# great plains LB for me and found a 35# bear recurve for him.
I've shot both and can group equally as good with either after a dozen shots or so.
I paid $120 for the recurve so you cant go wrong with a used older RC.
I'd also suggest a used bow. Theres some great deals on here. I'm in the process of getting a buddy his first from Sipsey RIver. He has a good list of used bows avail now.
+1 on the used bow
I might have just what you need. I have a Ben Pearson Hunter, 58" long, marked 50#@28 inch draw. I believe it pulls around 54#. It has great limbs, no stress cracks at all, glass is buff brown, wood is Zebra wood, has flemish string and rug rest. Shoots extremely fast and flat for an older bow. I have $100 in it, to help a new shooter, I would take $75 delivered TYD in the lower 48. Hope this helps. Sam.
