Is there any how to info on stitching or lacing on a leather grip wrap on a recurve and or a longbow?
All the best to all,
Oberon
I don't know the answer to that, however I cut my own piece of leather, bought a set of those curved leather needles, some artificial sinew and just wrapped it around and stitched it. I don't know if its "the wrong way", however it looks decent and its comfortable. I put it on a recurve that does not have a straight handle so the cuts on the leather had to be worked out to fit to bring each sides of the leather together from top to bottom. It took me awhile but I figured it out. Give it a try!
I'm gonna do a build-a-long on my next one. It will be a few days from now.
I found this helpful when I was trying to figure out stitching.

There is a build along in the how to section in here.

I did one last night for my Acadin Woods. This is my first attempt so I'm not saying its the right way, its just how I did it. First I cut the leather to size and test fit it. Then I wet the lether good. Next I wrapped it around the grip and stiched it on with some scrap thread. I then worked it by hnd to make sure it molded to the shape of the grip. I left it overnight to dry. This morning I unstitched it nd removed it to make sure it was fully dry before the next step. Later I'll pply some Barge cement and stitch it on with some artificial sinew. The last step is to take outside and shoot it.
Hope this helps....
