I"m working with a buddy on getting some arrows tuned to his 69# Schafer recurve... its nearly centershot, off a T300 rest...hes got some 340 Axis... at 30 1/4 (he draws Max 28) they are showing weak with 200 grain points... we ultimately want to get a 300 grain head....(190 griz with 100 grain brass insert) flying.... Will that 340 work at 29" or will he have to step up to the 300 spine shaft????
Thanks Much,
Ernie
Hey Ernie...I shoot Schafer's in the same weight range. However, I shoot mostly aluminum. If is helps, I use 2018's cut 28.5" with a 145 grain point for dacron string bows and 28.5 2020's with 145 grain points for FF string bows. I have used 55-75 gold tips cut 29" with 200 up front and the fly like bullets. Good luck!!
I appreciate your response...but I have no clue how aluminum corresponds!! :0)
2018 is a 70# spine.
I shoot the same poundage 68 to 72# although not your brand and I shoot 300 beamans cut to 29 1/2 or 340,s cut to 28 3/4 with a lighter head. I think you would do better with the 300.
As it turned out the 340 cut to 29" with a 100 grain brass insert and a 175 grain head flew absolutely perfect bareshaft. We then fletched them with 4 flecth 2" Bohning Blazer broadhead vanes and the arrows flew PERFECT!
Thanks,
